View Full Version : Stuck... (crashes)
sikk Jan 10, 2004, 10:15 AM Hi all
I'm having some problems. My game seems to be crashing at the same point every time. I've tried with all available versions (1.00, 1.12, 1.13) same thing every time.
The game crashes after hitting the end turn button and when the game is doing cycle though my cities to change productions. The city that it crashes on is the former English city just off the east coast of the Roman/Korean continent (forget the name). It also crashes if I attempt to save before ending the turn. :(
Would someone mind trying it to see if you can reproduce the problem? I'd really like to finish this game. :)

zurichuk Jan 10, 2004, 10:26 AM yep it crashes on my system too, even if i abandon the city you mention
Turner Jan 10, 2004, 11:18 AM Looking at the save now. Will edit in what I find. Are you using any mods?
sikk Jan 10, 2004, 11:20 AM Just one of the terrain packs, if that counts...
Might this be worth a move to the bug forum?
And thanks for looking into this, guys. I really appreciate it. :)
Turner Jan 10, 2004, 11:40 AM Reading is one of the problem childs here. I did find another crash. Apparently, Leeds doesn't like that Police Station. I went into the town (thinking this was the problem) and upon leaving the city-view screen, the game CTD'd. Reloaded, and changed production from Police Station to Cathedral. Rushed production, and it came out fine. Now that I know Reading is the problem, I'll look at that city.
Will report back in a few.
Turner Jan 10, 2004, 11:50 AM Okay, I've uploaded a screenie of the city in question. Well, one of them.

The only thing this city does is expand it's cultural borders. I check the conquest flag, and you're at about 54%(edit: That's 58%). I don't know if adding that many more tiles is kicking in your conquest victory condition, and causing it to crash. Your pop is well above the threashold, about 73%.
I don't know. I'm stumped. I wouldn't have thought that you picked up enough squares for the conquest. Maybe you did. But it has to do with the borders expanding. Perhaps you can sell the library, and hold off on the border expansion.
Anyone else have any ideas?
sikk Jan 10, 2004, 01:31 PM Hmm, that's interesting...
I'll try selling the library. I'll post the results.
Again, thanks. :)
sikk Jan 10, 2004, 06:08 PM OK, I sold the library but it still crashes.
Turner Jan 10, 2004, 07:58 PM I don't know. . .I'm stumped. I guess it's not the culture expansion then. What's the next city? Maybe the problem isn't with Reading, but with the next city.
Edit: Grasping at straws here: Why don't you load the save before, and redo the turn. Maybe the save is corrupted. . .
Chieftess Jan 11, 2004, 05:11 PM Are any cities in WLTKD, or mass riots? I had a crash like that once back in vanilla Civ3 (mass WLTKDs, and something in the build queue).
Don't you just hate bugs that require a lot of steps to reproduce? :)
sikk Jan 11, 2004, 06:08 PM Yes, most of the cities are in WLTKD. None are rioting. I have quite a few cities though. Were you able to find a workaround, Chieftess?
(PS. Thanks for the topic move! :goodjob: )
Esca Jan 12, 2004, 03:39 PM I have the same problem (freezing) when playing the scenario WW2 Pacific.
It locks up on the cities screen about a dozen moves into the game.
I need ctrl.alt.del. to get out of it.

HEY! < glancing at his location > We may be crime ridden and economically depressed but we are not a problem.:cringe:
And I bet the English city isn't either.

Just to clarify, my game is not freezing, it is flat out crashing to the desktop without any error messages.
Cheers
sikk Jan 13, 2004, 01:47 PM I just tried the game with 1.15 and got the same result. :(
Esca Jan 13, 2004, 03:31 PM Found out my problem was caused by my virus checker.
I put it into sleep mode and no more problems.
Isak May 06, 2004, 06:33 PM If anyone gets this bug with version 1.22 (that is, a game started in version 1.22) please post a savegame here. Thanks. :)
olebouch Nov 08, 2004, 10:40 PM I get it too, when I build a paticular improvement.
