I have the most bizzare problem ever, probably. Okay, so after finding out that the 1.20 patch for conqests corrupts certin music files (while i'm playing, the music plays and it instantly quits, on the same song...) So I DON'T install any patches (cause 1.15 ruins the forbidden palace.) and now the game closes at random times during the middle ages, and modern times, but not ancient times, or industrial age. Is there ANY idea what is going on before i compleatly rip this computer apart for breaking down in the dumbest, unheard of ways.

Small problem that anyone with Civ3 Gold can help me with. I had to reformat some time ago... long storie. Anyways when I go to install Civ3 Gold it gives me an error it cant read from x_abu bakr diplo mid fwrd.flc, However it is there, just have the size of all my other .flc files. It gets stuck on that file every time, and I noticed that my disk is scratched... 2+2=4, bingo it cant read from the disk to install the file in order to continue with installation. So if anyone has Civ3 Gold and feel's like kicking a fellow Civ addict down with a fix. Please E-mail me that file. C:\Program Files\Civillization III\civ3PTW\Art\Flic\x_abu bakr diplo mid fwrd.flc so I can just drop it in and hit retry to continue with the installation. I need my Civillicracktion.

No one will email you that file, as it is considered piracy at this site to do so.

Been playing C3Q fine since release (on my trusty old GEForce2 vid card). Recently updated to an ATI Radeon X700 series card, and phzzzphp...game crashes to desktop every time without fail around the 10th turn. Have current patch (V1.22), most recent vid drivers...running on XP SP2. I have tried uninstall/reinstall (including patch)...no luck. Any ideas, rumors, jokes, or innuendo would be appreciated.

Playing CIV3 conquests. Game run fines until I meet another civ then it crashes - doesn't matter whether I initiate contact with the civ or ignore them. Game crashes as soon as someone else shows up. Any help would be appreciated.

Hello, my problem is when i put the disk in my drive and it didn't load fast enough I thought there was a problem so I opened the driver again and I noticed a screen had popped up that said something like the auto run didn't start and I had to pick a media player but the start screen for Civ lll came up so I just hit the cancell button and now when I hit the launch button on the spaceship I get an error button. I already uninstalled and reinstalled but it didnt fix the problem. I don't know how to get that screen back to pick the media player.
Here's some of the error info: files included C:docume`1\robin\LOCALS`1\Temp\WERI.tmp.dir00\appc ompat.txt
Error sig.
AppName:Civilization3.exe,AppVer:0.0.0.0, ModName:binkw32.dll,ModVer:1.0.22.0 Offset:000016cb

Can anyone help me fix my problem so I can see my Spaceship Launch again. Oh, I have windows xp.

The place to get a working civ3.exe file is from her Civ3 complete CD(s). The best option is probably to uninstall Civ3 *completely*, and then reinstall from the discs.

Hey I have a question... when I try to run Civ3 (Vanilla), the game starts correctly by showing the intro, but then when the menu is supposed to appear, it says "Civilization.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We're sorry for the inconvenience." I don't care how sorry they are. I want to play my Civ game! I've been playing it for about a month now, and all of a sudden it does this for no apparent reason. It's worked fine in the past. Could anyone help me out here?? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have more than 1 problem! :(

I've installed Civ III, but when I play and quit the game and I want to play it another time, I can't play! I press on the Civ III start button but then nothing happens. Only when I reboot the computer, I can play Civ III another time.

Problem 2: So I installed patch 1.29 for Civ III, but when I installed, I can't open Civ III anymore, even when I reboot the computer! So I uninstall the patch, but then Civ III still doesn't work. Only when I uninstall and install Civ III, I can play it again. :(

Problem 3: When I used the Landscape Editor, and I change for example the Civ colors. When I play this scenario, I can't change the Techs in the Tech Tree, so when my Civ invents Bronze Working, I can't change anymore to Pottery. And I don't see also the pictures of the units/buildings in the Tech Tree.

Can anyone help me? :(

Hi. I really hope I can receive some elementary advice here. My Civ3 and Civ3PTW will not open when using the Samsung DLP TV as monitor. I read a few pages ago where someone else was having the same thing. A suggestion was brought to change the .ini setting to a different resolution.
I thought that I’d give that a try.
Just one problem…
I don’t know how to do that.
What is a .ini file?
Is it a “notepad” file?
How does one bring up the .ini file in order to change it?

Note: I can play it on the laptop display, but not the Samsung DLP through the fifteen point connection.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I wanna play bigbig Civ3:cool:

Cheers.

Hello,

I've been reading up on the forums for Civilization III and see quite a few of you are having trouble with the game. I work for Infogrames Tech Support, and belive you me, the phones are off the hook on this one!

Before you go and blame Firaxis or Infogrames for the problems some of you are having with the game, please make sure you try this stuff first.

First off, make sure you are running the latest drivers for your sound card and video card that support DirectX 8.0 and DISABLE 3RD PARTY APPLICATIONS! In Win98/ME you click on start, goto run, and type in MSCONFIG, make sure SELECTIVE STARTUP is enabled, and LOAD STARTUP GROUP ITEMS is UNCHECKED, and reboot your computer. :D

If you encounter the "Out of Range" or "Out of Sync" message from your monitor, find out what type of monitor you have, and install the CORRECT .INF for your monitor. DO NOT use "Default" or "Plug and Play" driver from Microsoft, this is what is causing the problem. GO MICROSOFT! :goodjob:

Do a Windows Update! You have no idea how many problems this fixes!

If you continue to have problems with the game, go ahead and post them to this thread, I'll do my best to work it out with you.

Hello: I don't don't think this is the right thread... Sorry :(
I don't see any way to slow down the game display. I have a pretty fast computer, and when the opponents play, I cannot follow the action. By the time my eyes focus on the action, it's usually too late. Two of my settlers and a worker were wiped out by barbarians - I just happened to see one settler fall down, had no idea what happened (I am new to this game). And the only way I knew a worker was gone, because I happend to wonder what he was doing (Had him on automatic) and I noticed he was gone. It had to be barbarians. And combat happens so quickly, I can barely see if a warrior has become elite, etc. Anyhow, is there a way to throttle down the display so I can see what's going on when the opponents play?
TIA

It sounds liek you have "Fast Unit Moves" turned on. You can turn these settings off & on in the file menue under preferences or options or what have you. check there. you can further slow it down by keeping unit animation on. Many people do not keep these settings on, in order to get opponent turns done faster.

Trying to get the Civ III trial working on my mums work laptop. If I can get it working, then I know to buy the full version and know it'll work.

Laptop uses Windows 2000 Professional, not sure what it's specs are, dxdiag doesn't work. Get an error when trying to run the game, says "Error: abnormal filename termination".

Any help appreciated!

Just checked the system information, says 327mb RAM, and uses an ATI RAGE Mobility. Not sure on the processor though.

Hi, I have the same old problem of having the Civ III 1.29f patch somehow cause the copyright protection from screwing up my ability to load the game (giving the 'please insert CD message'. I know how to use unsafesdisc except the programs out there seem to only go up to safedisc 2.40.10. The patch is protected with safedisc 2.60.052 according to 'safedisc analyser'. Where can I get an unwrapper for this version of safedisc, or an unwrapped exe?

PLEASE HELP.

Thanks.

That is, unfortunately, against the rules. It would break the rule about piracy. I'm not doubting you have a legitimate copy, but providing instructions on how to crack it or where to get a nocd crack would be against the rules.

But, Civ3 worked perfectly in the flawed-up beta 2, and all microsoft did was improve the system! I updated my audio/video driver, etc. How do I fix this, and will this occur in civ4? Do I need to add a font to my system???

ok, I got civ3, ptw, and conq. in a 3-cd pack out of a catalog somewhere.
From the start, I had errors. When I tried to install PTW, it wouldn't run. It said that it needed the cd when it was already in there. I installed conquests and it ran fine (is mine unique in the fact that I don't need the cd to run conquests?) I downloaded 1.22 update and it came up with the cd error like ptw did. I uninstalled and reinstalled conquests and everthing ran fine until I tried downloading mods. I kept getting errors like "cannot find file: art\units\some unit\..\swordsman\swordfortify.wav" I know the files are there, I even tried moving them into the mod folder, but I still get the errors. I know howtoopen the INI file and delete the entry for that sound, ut I think it really takes away from the unit.
HELP!:please: :help:

Try Start -> My Computer and click on your cd rom drive. if it opens the drive instead of autorunning it, find the setup file.

It sounds like your CD rom is set to not autoplay, which would be why you put the disc in and nothing happens.

Generally, if we don't answer, we don't know. Maybe not the nicest thing, but it does keep the forum tidy and we don't have a bunch of 'I don't know.' posts.

I would repost problem 3, if you're still having it, in the Creation & Customization subforum. I change the civ colors all the time, and I've never had that problem.

I have civ 3 version 1.07f (if that's how it's called), but I want to use a patch to upgrade it to 1.29f I saw on this site. I have done this successfully a while ago (but I don't remember how anymore, but I do remember it was very hard). However, then I uninstalled Civ 3 and recently installed it again, but I found that it's back to 1.07f. I still have a file on my computer Civ3v129F. When I start it, a message pops up saying the company is unknown, but I just choose to open it anyway. Then, an installshield thing starts the set up to install civ3 v 1.29f (of course this all takes a while due to my slow computer). But then, a really weird message pops up. "Do you want to completely remove the selected application and all of its components?". I click ok, then it quickly installs something and then it says 'InstallShield Wizard has finished performing maintenance operations on Civilization III v1.29f.' I click finish.

During all that, my disc was in its drive.

But after all that, what am I supposed to do? When I start civ 3 again, it still shows v 1.07f in the bottom left corner (and the new features of 1.29f don't appear when I play a game). I am sure I am doing everything right, but I just don't know the right step to do after I start up the install shield file.

Am I doing anything wrong?

Go here (http://www.atari.com/us/support/newfaq/civilizationiii.php?browser=1&issueNum=239&osType=WINXP&pageDisplay=MAIN#faq_prodissues), and completely remove Civ3 from your hard drive. You shouldn't need to delete the Civ3v129f file. Once you've followed those directions, try to reinstall it, and then apply the patch again.

If you need to re download the patch, it can be found here (http://www.civfanatics.com/civ3/patches/).

There seems to be a problem. I could not delete the Civilization III folder, because it said a certain file was in use. I looked further and the file was located in the Civilization III Complete folder, which is located inside my Civilization III folder (it is there because I attempted to download civ 3 complete (and I'm never doing anything like that again...), but it didn't work so I removed it all, but there still seems to be a folder of it inside my Civ 3 folder.). So I just pressed delete on every file inside my civ 3 folder, except for those in the civ 3 complete folder, as they wouldn't delete. Then, I did the registry edit thing (I'm not that technical so I just followed the guide, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing, but I followed every step carefully so I'm sure I didn't do that wrong) and inserted my disc into its drive again.

On the autorun screen it automatically opens when I insert the disc, it actually shows the option Play Civilization 3! How is that possible? Because the Civ III file is still there? When I click the option, the orange button turns blue, but then it turns orange again. I can double click and click how often I want, it won't start the game. This is weird... At the bottom, the options Uninstall and Reinstall are still there. However, normally when the game is not on my harddrive, instead of the option 'Play Civ 3' it should show the option 'Install Civ 3'.

How can I delete my annoying civ 3 complete folder with everything in it and with that my entire civ 3 folder aswell? Do I have to delete my infrogrames folder (in which my civ 3 folder is located) aswell?

Edit: I somehow managed to delete that file and totally delete my civ3 folder, and after that I autorunned my civ 3 disc. It didn't show Install Civ 3 so I just hit Reinstall. I installed it again, and then I downloaded the patch again and applied it.

It worked! I'm really happy now. Thank you for your quick response to my initial post.

Then I uninstalled and re-installed, and still receive the same error.

Any ideas?

You can download binkw32.dll from a number of internet sites. I would suggest d/ling it and putting it the game directory.

Well....I was lazy one time and accidently deleted the civilization 3 folder...to make room for one other game that didnt work. Apparently I did not get all the necessary folders to delete or something but... When i install it it goes to the install shield wizard and goes to repair, modify, or remove. When I click on ANY of them and try to do something, it says it's done and everything dissapears...how do I fix this annoying problem....

Well i dont want to search this whole thread cus it looooooooooong

I have vista and it wont even load up... well i may have messed it up...

I instaleld it and it asked me about gamespy and im like what the hell might as well and then it asked me to restart and i did and wen i go to load it up there is no play choice or any icon. When i pop it in and i go to install it says modify repair or uninstall none of then do anything. I cant do anything in modify because the only option is OK and the X. Repair seems to do nothing.
Uninstall dont work. Do i play on disc 2? i doubt it but i might and ive restarte and tried again but nothing happens!!

Is it vista or did I screw ut up? and if so, How can i uninstall the remaining components and reinstall again without the gamespy?

Thank you.

Hi Ive had the plain Civ III for a while and decided to patch it recently so I could add new units and get more out of the game but Im having problems patching it to 1.29f, my game works fine before I patch but once Ive patched it Civ3Edit works fine but when I come to run the actual game it activates smooth fonts as normal, the screen goes black and then it simply exits no startup movies no error window no sign of anything going wrong, Id play it on 1.07f although it means I cant mod it properly or add much new to the game :( any help? (Ive tried older patches and the most I can patch it to is 1.17f)

I am having this exact problem.
The screen goes black, I hear 1 second of music, then it locks. "Not Repsonding."
I put drivers back in, reloaded.
I was 1 time able to run it off of the Editor, but I can not duplicate that.
Ideas?

I am playing CIVIII on my laptop with vista and I have just recently run into a problem. My game crashes every time I try to build a city. I was able to build cites without any problems until today. Now it crashes every time I use a settler. How do I fix this problem?

Here's my problem; While i'm playing whenever i build a unit, it gets stuck at 1 turn left, until my current research is finished. When that happens, all the units stuck at one turn all finish building. So, even if i can build a settler in 5 turns it's still takes me 20 cause my reseach is not even close to done. Any ideas?

Oct 25, 2007, 08:56 AM
Welcome to CFC, Necromancer686!

Is it any unit, or just settlers? If it's just settlers, I suspect it's related, not to research, but to population growth. A settler requires 30 shields and 2 population. So if your town is too small, production will stall until you have the required population.

OTOH, if it's any unit, I don't know what the problem is. You might check the Bug Reports sub-forum.

Necromancer686
Oct 25, 2007, 04:11 PM
Workers, warriors, settlers. . .etc. they all get stuck at one turn left, it's not population cause i don't get that message where i can delay production or abandon the city. And in the city interface, it shows all the shields full and one turn left. . .

Sorry to say, I don't know, then. Check the Bug Reports sub-forum and run some searches on this site to see if it's come up before.

Hi, after playing CIV 4 for ages, I want to reload CIV 3 again. I´m now on XPSP2, previously 98SE, and only want to play CIV3Conquests. Can I get away with only loading the final C3C patch ?
Secondly, my CIV3 CD appears to be a US Version, (Infogrames Interactive Inc. 2001), whereas my C3C CD is a european version which can be used for all versions of CIV3, (PTW is also on board). I´m confused about which patch I need to download. Can anybody help ?

Thanks. :)

IIRC, C3C is a "universal" installer, so it shouldn't matter which version of Civ3 original you add it to. It will patch Civ3 to its final version, and patch (or install) PTW to its final version. The final C3C patch is v1.22f.

Ok, here I go. I have the XPS 410 with all the bells and whistles. I just got CIVIII Gold. I start the install and it tells me to install "disk2". No disk two in the box, except for the expansion " Play the World". I thought that was strange so I put in the PtW disk and it continues. It tells me to put in disk 1 and i put in CIVIII disk. It finishes and gives me the "Play " screen. Hit play and it tells me that I have the wrong disk in. I talked to a Geek Squad guy and he says since the game is for Windows XP and I am running Vista. Thats plausable , I guess.

I bought Conquest expansion on line a few months ago. Also have Vanilla Civ III and Civ IV and they both work fine, so it's not some "hardware incompatibility" isssue. I was really looking forward to playing it, as I like Civ3 a bit more than Civ4 (I'm just getting used to the latter one now - really slowly).

The graphics are completely out of order. The general screen seems to have the info areas smeared (see first picture below). Advisors have elements out of place, information obstructed by other random pieces of graphics that do not belong (e.g. domestic info in cultural advisor, multiple heads of Elizabeth I at random locations, etc.). Basically useless. Actual attempts of making basic unit moves do work until advisors or popups need to be used. The game crashes altogether when foreign advisor screen is called.

See sample shots below - one is general screen another is cultural advisor. Other advisors have similar issues. I have poured over all these forums, found one similar post unanswered. Perhaps we could try again, please?

Settings: v1.22 downloaded. Computer: Compaq Presario SR1500NX, AMD Sempron 2GHz, memory expanded to 1.25GB (issues were prior and after expansion), graphics card expanded to nVidia GeForce 256MB (alike). Windows XP SP2.

For me looks like my version is incorrect, but I have pretty much no recourse - I redownloaded and reinstalled the game. Patch 1.22f does not work as after the installation it calls for CD to be put in (this is a downloaded version).

Any help? I would really appreciate it.

@ Raf1270: The only recourse in those situations is to uninstall/reinstall. Something got screwed up during installation. If that doesn't fix it, go back to the company you purchased the download from, and complain to their tech support. (You did pay for a legal download, right? If not, you're on your own, here.)

Well, I've done all of that. I redownloaded, uninstalled, reinstalled, complained both to the Atari and the store. No help - generic anwers from the store (you those "check your card settings etc.), Atari blew me off completely (sorry we don't support old games). That's it. my son and I just purchased two copies of Civ 3 Gold and after loading the games on to our computers we can not play it. This is due to the error we continue to receive.

'Wrong disc inserted.
Please insert the original "Civ3Gold" CD/DVD"

We have used both CD's and a tried a number of other "fixs" that have been posted on a number of forums all to no good, nothing has worked.

We are both running XP Pro, fully updated, I'm running an AMD 2200+, 1.49GHz, 512MB of Ram, NVIDIA GeForce4 MX 4000 vid, with Sound Blaster sound. I can run NWN and his computer can NWN2. there is no hardware reason why we can't play the game. It is a software issue with the game.

So, we need some help.

Hello there, my first post to this forum!

A few days back I stumbled on my good old Civ 3 plain, and decided that it was time to wreck my relationship and start playing Civ again. But, unfortunately, there`s a problem which is quite annoying, and after reading this whole thread trough and finding no solution, I`m hoping that some kind soul could help me.

The game installs quite fine, I patched it, no problem there, but when I try to run it, there`s no texts or anything in the main menu, just the background image. When I press enter, I get the screen where you create the world etc (still no texts), and also get the screen where you can choose your civ etc (surprise, no texts), and when I try to launch the game, it crashes on the start, giving me the "unable to allocate draw-buffer; terminating program".

I tried every single thing mentioned in this thread, updated my drivers, ran windows update, uninstalled/reinstalled, practiced black magic and so on, but nothing seems to help.

The weirdest thing is, the game ran okay a year back on this very same computer.

Specs:
Intel Celeron 2.8Ghz
768megs ram
SIS 650 integrated display adapter
Soundblaster Live
Acer AL1916 19" monitor
DirectX 9.0C

If anyone knows what is causing this problem, please tell me. Thanks

This is really weird now. The power went out of my apartment a while ago, and after it came back, I started my computer, and decided to try Civ one more time. Much to my surprise, it worked perfectly.

I really don`t understand why it decided to start working now, after all, I did reboot my computer many times before the power went out.

Oh well, as long as it works, I`m not asking questions.

Cheers,

Kaiz

If you bought your copy of CIVIII Gold at Best Buy it may be part of a " Bad Batch" that they received from 2K. I talked to a tech at 2K and he said that they had received lots of calls from folks with this same problem. He said to take it back and exchange it for a new one. I tried and they were out of them. I am picking up ALL of the CIV IV games on Friday!!

Hello.

Please return this game to your point of purchase for a refund. Please do not exchange this game for another copy of this game from this store, as you will experience the same issue.

We apologize for this inconvenience.

2K games will replace any of their evil Best Buy (etc.?) Sid Meier's Civilization 3 Gold Edition games with the incorrigible SecuRom "wrong disc" problem free of charge if it's within 90 days of purchase, you have the game and receipt still intact, and you follow their RMA (return merchandise authorization) instructions.

Just call or e-mail them about it, and they'll send an RMA form. (If you call, you may get to talk to a very nice person in Ireland! :) )

I bought Civilizations 3 Complete and it is running on a 1.7GHz Intel Core Processor with integrated graphics and sound, 2GB RAM. It plays fine until I complete a Civilizations 3 Conquest Campaign. When I complete the campaign and click on the victory screen (to continue), there is an error message called "Civilization 3 has encountered a problem and must close. Sorry for the inconvenience" and the game crashes to my desktop. My OS is Windows XP Service Pack 3. This happens after I press the "X" on the Victory Status screen. When I go back to the Hall of Fame Screen, it says that I have not beaten anything. (This problem DOES NOT appear when I complete the original Civilizations 3 game, not the expansion pack games.

I believe that some of our members have received the same problem here.

My version of the Civilizations 3 Complete is called "PC Gamer Presents Sid Meier's Civilizations 3 Complete" I understand that this version has ALL the patches fixed. I hope that someone can help me here.

Thanks.

I've got Civilization III Complete and a 32-bit operating system on Vista. I previously played it on a Windows 98, where it would work for about an hour then display the message, "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be closed immediately." Or at least something along those lines.

But now the problem is that Vista isn't even recognizing that the disc is in the drive. I open up the "Computer" folder, hit "Open" and the E: Drive, and it tells me to please insert a disc into drive E:.

I have also played it on a Windows XP (not sure about all the specifications) and it worked perfectly well.

One thing I do know is that I the Vista computer has NO sound card.

I'd appreciate some help with this, as I'm not the smartest person in the world.

I have recently upgraded to a 32-bit Vista OS, and I have installed Civ3/Conquests without incident, however the game play is so slow that it's not worth playing.(The graphics during combat are in slow motion for some reason.) Is there a patch for Vista 32 bit based OS that I need to speed up the game? On my old 98 machine it played fine, the turns were a little long for the AI especially later in the game but other than that the animations worked perfectly.

Thanks.

If you tried to patch it, it'll ask for the cd. That's the only way I know of that a d/l version of Civ3 will ask for the CD.

I would try to redownload it from the provider you purchased it from, and install it again. Or if you still have the original d/l, install it on your new puter. Then do not apply any patches and see if that works.

Hey Mr Wiser than moi regarding tech issues!

My wife loves Civ III and is currently having a devil of a time with C3C because just recently it has begun to resolve turns at a dizzying rate! You can barely tell what is going on as the images whiz past. Any ideas what the problem could be? She's running an NVidia 6600 GT video board with one gig of RAM.

Turner
Dec 01, 2008, 06:13 AM
That's not really a 'problem', per se. That's just because your graphics card can handle moving the units faster. I'd check and make sure that all animations are on, other than that, or playing on a slower computer, there's not much you can really do.

I have several issues I would appreciate some help with.
1) I have been playing Civ III Basic for a long time on a Windows 2000 machine.
My fighters will not scramble to protect my city areas even though they are put into the Air Superiority mode. This is at the Warlord level.
Is this a hidden restriction?
2) I recently bought a new Laptop (Toshiba) with Windows Vista. The games plays even though it was made for earlier versions of Windows but I can not find the saves folder to erase old, unwanted games. Does anyone have any idea where to look?
3) I would like to download any of the Patches that came out early in the life of the game. Does anyone know where I can find them?

Padma Thanks for serving!!!

(Working on Gemini and Apollo - that must have been fascinating!)

1) If you are running the original Civ3 (known around here as 'Vanilla'), you need to be sure it is fully patched. Air Superiority was broken in the original release. If it is still broken after patching, please bring it up in your thread in Civ3 - General Discussions. (See below for patches.)

2) I haven't put Civ3 on anything 'newer' than Win2000, myself. (I won't buy XP, Vista, or 'Windows 7' for personal, philosophical reasons.) The files are obviously there, somewhere. If they aren't in "C:\Program Files\<Infograemes|Atari|Firaxis|Take2|whatever> \Civilization III\Saves", then try digging around in your user folder. IIRC, there's a "Games" folder in there, somewhere, where they might also be stashed. Somebody else may come along who knows for sure.

3) With the reorganization of the website a while back, some things are now harder to find than they used to be. I knew basically where to look, though. So here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/downloads.php?do=cat&id=64) is our page with Civ3 patches available. If you have the basic 'Vanilla' version, you need the "Civilization III Patch v1.29f (English)". Just download it, and then double-click to install it. It *should* install with no problems, even on Vista.

Congrats on your Promotion.
I have a new major problem.
I just had a major crash on Civ III Vanilla patched with v1.29f.
After the patch went in, I started getting random crashes that threw me out of the game.

I tried this:

[QUOTE=Sampdoria;7585160]Ciao mate,

I had to uninstall Civ3 (Patched Version)
Then remove all registry inputs by using Registry Cleaner
Reinstall Civ 3 (Patched Version)
Load my saved game again - this time it worked perfect and did not
crash at *that* specific moment.

and I uninstalled the game and then reinstalled it.
The game seemed to load fine. It got to the main title page but never loaded the main menu.
I uninstalled the patch, which was separate, and then the game and then reinstalled the game but no luck. Same result:eek:
Where can I find this Register Cleaner? I have CCleaner loaded. Will that do the job?
Have I now corrupted my game disc???:badcomp:

Click on the My Account (http://forums.civfanatics.com/usercp.php) link that's just below the thread title. This will take you to your UserCP/My Account page. From there you can edit your avatar, signature, options, and profile information. Be advised that to use a custom avatar you'll need 30 posts and be here for 30 days.

As for the rest of the problem, is that the same problem you're having over in the Fighters Won't Defend thread? If so, we should probably keep the discussion to that thread.

Thanks Turner,
No this is a new issue.
I down loaded the v1.29f patch for Vanilla Civ III.
That fixed the Air Superiority problem but initiated this new problem.
To date I have uninstalled the game and the patch.
Reloaded the game only to find out that it loaded the main title page but never loaded the main menu.
Based on and input from "Sampdoria"
I ran CCleaner for the Register and cleared out a lot of garbage.
I reloaded the game and it came up with the Menu.
That is where I am now.
I am debating down loading 1.29 now. Any thoughts??
