I get a blue screen everytime I try to run Civ3. "Dumping memory to disk" ...etc... Says ANV_DISP.DLL is the culprit.

Running Windows 2000 Server on an Intel Pentium 4 1.5ghz , Intel mb, 512 rambus ram, 32mb asus videocard, PLENTY O harddrive space, and an SB Live.

Here's what I've tried

-- uninstalling and reinstalling civ3
-- reinstalling it with my CDR drive instead of my cd drive.
-- copied all files from game cd to d:\ and installed it from there.
-- tried 60hz, 75hz, 80hz
-- tried 256 colors, 800x600, 640x480
-- copied the bink .dll from the game cd to the installed directory when it was finished installing, as it says to do in the readme.txt and on the Civ 3 Support site.
-- I have DirectX 8
-- I have the latest videocard drivers
-- I have the latest SBLive drivers
-- I have the latest driver for my monitor.
-- tried running it in a Win 98 window using Connectix Virtual PC, with 128 Megs allocated.

Any ideas?

Ricky

In your autoexec.bat and config.sys put the line rem before your CD-ROM and that you will allow you to have more conventional memorie and it will run. I got the same problem at start. Let's try it.

Nothing in my autoexec.bat or config.sys...

They're empty.

But thanks anyways.

Hi!

I'm rather new in the group, but I'm facing the same problem that you had long ago.

Did you find any solution then?

jan33 - Warned. Pls don't bump old topics unless you have something to contribute. 'Maybe a virus' is not contributing.
