To the back of his belt. If he's not wearing a belt, I've heard of police handcuffing the arm to the ankle. This method has drawn some complaints about police brutality, though.

Yes.
Why do people call it a driveway when you park on it?
A house on a lot (and it's garage) is usually set back from the street. Usually you will not just drive over the lawn (or if in an urban area you won't hop over the curb) to reach the garage, nor will you pave over the whole lot. Instead you pave just a path specifically for driving through the lot to the garage.
Why do people call it a parkway when you drive on it?
The term "parkway" was popularized by Robert Moses, who was responsible for many of the large scale transportation projects around New York City in the 20th century. Technically, it is a road bordered by and divided with a park-like setting. Since the initial naming of many parkways development has made the surroundings more urban, but the name remains.
Why is a natural area named a "park" then? It comes from the Old French and Middle English "parc" meaning "an enclosed piece of ground stoced with beasets of the chase, held by perscription or by the king's grant" (Websters New Collegiate Dictionary). The concept of enclosing and stocking a piece of ground goes back to early arabian palaces which maintained green hunting grounds amidst the desert landscape. The concept translates to palaces like Versailles in France and other English castles.
I was just waiting for someone to ask that question, again. ;)

Nah, just someone who knows how to use google. (for 3 of the answers at least). I had just heard those same rhetorical questions enough that I decided to look up the answers.

RegentMan Jan 21, 2004, 09:56 PM Nice responses. But now the humor is ruined... :( ;)
The Person Jan 22, 2004, 02:19 AM Exactly. Such questions aren't made to be answered. [attempt at humor]Somebody posts a lot of rhetoric questions, and some Pirate(!) answers them![/attempt at humor]

You obviously have to much time ... :)
Pirate Jan 22, 2004, 07:20 AM Yep, you know when your out playing and your ball gets knocked over the fence and some kid on the other side picks it up and runs away with it? That's me.
Come on, how many times can you hear that "parkway, driveway" question before it ceases to be humorous? I think the humor was lost already. And I think there's some ironic humor in deadpan, matter-of-fact answering of rhetorical questions.
Maybe I'll edit my first post to warn **STOP- warning, spoilers ahead**
