I'll vote CivGeneral, he has done a fairly good job as Minister of Defense (except for instruction posting, but the CC warning should serve to remind him to post them reliably in the future).

My support goes for CG, he has shown in the past that he can do the job, and we can not let one mistake ruin a career of accomplishments.

I had a difficult time chosing between my two favorite candidates for this - and even though I nominated her, I let monsieur Sarevok have my vote this time :)

those stratagies apply in the modern/industrial age, when you (and your rival) have enough units to make those statagies be considered

consider it practice. Its my strategies I use in order to bring more fun and strategy into the civ3 fighing instead of the MA charges.

My strategy is dynamic, depending on what types of units we can build in the ancient era.

Swordsmen - If we are luck to have swords (almost the tanks of the ancient era, next to legions), it's quite easy to utilize a brute force method.

Horsemen - If we lack (or do not get that iron, and hopefully have horses), then this is the 2nd part of what I call, "The Poor Man's War". Horsemen = mobility, and can still take down spears. They will require us to bring several spearmen to the front to protect the horses.

Resourceless - If we have no resources, then this requires that we use combined arms. Spearmen, Catapults, and archers. It would also require to "Archer Rush" the nearest AI with the best resource availible, even if it is just to aquire that resource, then rebuild.

I have also been in other posistions in previous demogames and have rarely missed any instructions.

Well, bad for me is that this will be entering my 4th term with DG4 and ive only held the position of Defense Deputy for half of the 1st term. In this, I dont have nearly the experience CG or CT has at this, but Ive gotten the hang of this.

I have seriously studied strategy and military tactics for 10 years now, and i am able to do things most consider impossible in that area. I am a Diety civ player, so I know how to handle the AI. As far as my strategy is concerned:

First thing, id tell the Minister of the Interior to race for that Iron source to the south as fast as possible, with cover from the warriors we have in the area. This is somewhat near russia so we will need to move NOW in order to get it. Wih swordsmen, we can effectively build a force to fight with.

Next id pursue cavalry for a mobile reserve and scouting force. As CT also said they will be second if we fail to get that Iron in time. A short build-up of forces to kill russia combined with swordsmen, spearmen, and horsemen can advance to the russian cities and eliminate them by using the nearby moutains as a build-up area.

The settler-rush to the Iron likely will be bad for the economy, but it will bring in rich dividends for the future. I hope that this may be brought up for the next turnchat as a plan becasue I believe that If we dont start heading for the Iron now, we wont get it. Indeed we are slowly moving towards it, but a rapid expansion may be neccesary to get there in time.

I hope that I have brought insight not only to those currently running the Demogame, but also to those who wish toknow the kind of strategy I have in mind for the beginning of the term.
