Kender are halflings in the Dragonlance World. I am contemplating puting together a Dragonlance Mod. They do not have large hairy feet. Sorry.

The hoopak prop is courtesy of Kinboat. (Thank you very much Kinboat)

A hoopak is sort of a sling-staff that Kender use. It also has a spike on the end to be used as a spear.

This is the first time I've ever posted a unit without testing it first. But, I always test it, and it's fine, so, I'm taking the risk. If you find any problems PLEASE let me know

Unbelievable !!!
Excellent, I actually think I am drooling... Not that I like to admit it, but hey! Its definitely excusable here! As are the clothed feet.
The waiting was worth it.

Perfect Kindred. Even better than I thought they would turn out. My only question is maybe a settler/worker combo? Could be used as a king as well.

AS far as the rest of these?:thumbsup:

EDIT: Maybe now that Hobiit will stop haunting you. ;)

One problem... you made the human version quite gigantic, so that normal human figures look like halflings when next to them ;)

Very Cool!:goodjob:

As far as the too small or too large goes, one could always hire the wee and large folk into their military - midgets have rights to ya know!:D

Hmm.. That's wierd. I've been using Kinboat's setup and usually my human models come out just fine. :( I'll be more carefull with that in the future.

That should be easy enough to fix though. I'll work on it when I get home from work.

I would definitly look after a Dragon-Lance mod :)

I haven't got the time to d/l and test them (little connex right now), but they seems nice.

The Hoopak's attack animation seems short and a little weird.
The Hoopak should go from farer or the projectile sent later.

I would love to see a Dragonlance mod. That would make a Minotaur civ possible if you made units for that as well. Wyrm's map is pretty good. A few mistakes like the Budapest city which is supposed to be Gateway, but overall that is a very good map and would make a great map if you touched it up with C3C editor.

Yeah, with the kenders, I thought they used it like a Dennis-the-Menace-slingshot-on-a-stick too. Course I never red any of dem booksh.

I started reading those books this last summer. I've read "The Warriors volumes 1-7," "Icewall Trilogy" and I'm curently on book 2 of "Dragonlance Chronicles."

I was quite impressed. To my surprise. They are almost as good writers as myself. I think I'll have to get back to that writing thing as soon as I finish my mod. Got to pay some old bills you know.

About the hoopak. According to the books, kender twirled it around their heads as a warning signal, like rabbits thumping their hind feet. For atack, they planted it in the ground and used it as a stationary sling-shot type weapon.

I did research as well. It said that they used it either way. Sometimes spiking it into the ground, and sometimes using it as a sling-staff.

As far as swinging it over their head. Check the victory animation.

OK, I have edited the Generic Swordsman AND the Generic Scout so that they are more accurately sized. If you have previously downloaded these units, you may want to do it again. Note that they use the same names, so don't get them mixed up.

Thanks Embryodead for pointing this out.

I was just curious, but did you plan to make any worker or settler kenders?
If not, that's fine I'll just snatch whatever they come up with in the LotM mod.

I love DragonLance! I'm a scholar of the series (core books mostly, some little side ones too), and of kender more generally. Yes, they do swing their hoopak around them, though not much in the books. They swing it by the leather strap, most likely, to spin it fast enough to get a whirring sound. Very nice unit; I love the tassle!

Kender Workers, Settlers, or just units more generally would be helpful. I'm starting a few threads and asking around about making a DragonLance mod. If anyone needs any units, don't talk to me, I'm no artist! :D But I do know DragonLance...

Live wisely. Play video games.

There is a map done in the maps forum. It wasn't too bad, just needs a little update and some work to finish it. I am planning one if no one alse does, but my current project must be complete and bug free first. After that I might start or join the DragonLance mod team.

Ok, after D/L and playing with these units, They are GREAT!!!
would like to see a worker so I can make Kender a Civ

even if the MOD never reaches a work stage Id like to see more tid bits from it... I add random elements to my personal "Discordia" mod as I learn how, and an INN of Last HOme Wonder, or Solomnic knight unit (not specifically, anything DL would be kewl) would always be welcome replacements or additions...

if it does ever get to the "start up" process, Id like to volunteer to do what ever I can, as I loved the DL series (before Kitiara and Caramon had kids anyway)

Good work on the Kender Kindred...glad to see they havent been forgotten
