I tried to join, but it says I have a "free" e-mail address and can't join. I tried both my e-mail accounts, and nothing. Does anyone have advice?

Did you use your ISP e-mail?...they are getting wise to most of the free e-mails now.

What this accomplishes is beyond me.They say it is to stop double logins but 95% of e-mails from ISPs allow the user to setup at 3 different addresses...same thing as 3 hotmail accounts..maybe a touch tougher

Nope. My stupid ISP (SBC Yahoo) tried to sell us bad equipment, had bad service, tried to equip our computers for expensive prices, and our stuff always cuts out. They never bothered to give our computers e-mail, either. Is there some other kind of way to join without using an ISP adress, or any websites that will work?

well you could search on goolge for free webmail and usually some obscure domain which someone just did for fun won be blocked. you can of course change the email back to your free webmail after you have signed in so all official messages come to your proper inbox.

or just borrow someones just for 1 day using the technique above. it is legit, they even say you can do this in the rules.

I'm an official SWC Helper on irc and I say you can change your email to whatever you want once you've signed up. :)

Join a faction, dont choose your starting position or stats yet.

I recommend NMI :D
after that your faction will help you, or just ask around. everyone is friendly to noobs. look around the board there is a noob lottery, join that.
also enigma offers free stuff to noobs so you may like to look them up.

Very, very good advice about not assigning stats until you chit chat with those in the know.Since stuff isn't in the game yet, several attribute categories are a waste at this time...SoonTM

What a great time to be a newbie.I'm racking up 600>800 xp per trip. Our faction is swamped with recruits and I havn't stopped traveling since day3.The core of this faction has some terribly dedicated folks. They really commit the time.Very similiar to dispatching at a major trucking company or something..and it goes 24/7 pretty much.

I have been promoted to..something official sounding along with a pay raise :D

Hey I just learned that my promotion also includes a tool kit and 6 Y-Wings!

You may need to delete your cookies to register.I had to for some reason.

How is everybody doing?..clean up at the X-Mas games?...I won a V35 and a JM 5000 in raffles but nothing in the actual games.

I know Sovarn won a big prize.

btw...I was executed and am currently awaiting respawn.....

Thrawn
Jan 06, 2006, 03:19 PM
hah, who executed you?

Last year I couldn't attend half of them, so I didn't bother with them this year.

And you're screen reloading when you're trying to login usually means you've typed an incorrect password. Try using the Lost Password feature. If it doesn't, come onto the swc irc server and goto #swc-help. :)

FF.Assisted suicide of sorts.

I really dropped the ball in character creation. Not terribly surprising as it is a touch vague.

What really hurt was lack of understanding on how the level up worked.I thought you'd get more than 1 skill point as you leveled up.WRONG..1 point per no matter what level.

So,basically,I was stuck for years and years with almost no useable skills.Just piloting which meant I was sitting around waiting for people to join.A very unuseful faction member.

So I made the ultimate sacrifice and lose 3 weeks but will gain years when creating with a MUCH better understanding of the combine.

Smash I have a quick question for you.

When you died what happened to all your money and CP points?

Do you get to keep them for the new character you create?

Thrawn
Jan 10, 2006, 09:55 AM
CP Points probably stay seeing as they're technically an ooc reward, nothing else does.

Smash

I only had like 8000 credits,a JM 5000 and V-35.I made them over to another player before I died.I may throw them in the Jan newbie draw if I repawn in time..eta 13 days.

As mentioned,CPs are no problem for the dead. You can still log in and do your banner clicking(CP Master is on my "to buy" list). You can still donate. Can't have site support stop.

All I can do now is see room events and actually send room messages.Been having a little fun "haunting" the facility in which I met my demise.Send messages like "....tap...tap...tap...." :D

Being the selfless, generous soul in the hive of scum and villiany that I am,I sent $500US to SWC.Vey says this only covers servers cost for a mere 2 months unfortunately

Thrawn
Jan 10, 2006, 08:44 PM

meh..its only money.Money won from a straight chaser that can't lay down a hand.

2 fold motivation-support the combine. They operate on a shoestring budget so I'm sure they can use it.

Combine Points-500,000=fast track to trading career.Hafta to wait for respawn obviously, but I am really waiting to see CP ship changes.Allready Teniel Djo is offering minimum 15 mil for a Y-Head..so prolly more like 20>25 mil

What race are you folks?...I have an important decision upcoming..assuming the Combine ever returns ;).

I see only 2 choices really-Duros or Falleen.

I'm leaning to Falleen right now. They have good starting bonus which should get me at least level 4 in Trade,Leadership and Comp Ops

Duros gets level 3 Fighter/freighter as a bonus but I see no way to get 4 in trade and leadership with them

I was Lt. Ian Faust on Genesis Fleet. It was a rather boring existence, to be honest, carting minerals from one planet to the other, and it started taking up most of my free time as well. My best days were in the 1st Fleet.

Well they opened the NPC market..rather poorly..but open it is.

Managed to snag 2 Firesprays and a YT 1300 for 1.5 mil.

Thanks to Tycho..all the really sweet stuff was gone...he got a Bulk,Mobquet and Action Transport for less than 10 mil total. He bought something like 154 ships...

and the rich get richer

I don't know who this tycho dude is but if he is not working for a large faction then what the .... does one person need with 154 ships? That's just outrageous!

So, I have to make a new e-mail account I will NEVER EVER use for anything else to register? Lame. Seems interesting though.

Smash

Tycho is a filthy rich guy that owns 3 factions. He made his first fortune the first time the NPC market was open.He bought and sold ships to/from it every day for weeks. There was a hole and he bought low and sold high and eventually they shut it down. They have changed the formula for selling(cant sell right now though) so it shouldn't happen again.

But it seems like he was ready for this opening, while it was a complete surprise to most. You have to be in a certain facility to actually buy stuff..he just happened to be in a commerce center with a very fat wallet.

-You can use your e-mail for anything you want. You just need a paid e-mail to register. You can even borrow one from someone and then change it after you get accepted.

He owns Tenloss Syndicate and whatever it's nationalized factions are.

And if Tycho hadn't of bought that stuff, one of the other vets would have. ;)

What exactly is a paid e-mail? I am guessing it's an e-mail account you have to pay for...

Don't know ANYONE who would pay for e-mail. Meh, i don't have time for two to three weeks anyways.

ISP emails count. So you could just use that, or borrow your parents one or something.
