Hi, I was just hoping that someone here could help me out. I recently upgraded my system and installed Windows XP. One of the first games I installed was, of course, SMAC/SMAX. Much to my dismay, however, the game won't seem to run for more than 10-20 minutes without irrovrecably freezing my system (no ctrl-alt-del, I must restart) I've downloaded the latest 2.0 patch for SMAX, got the winXP compatability patch, downloaded the latest drvers for my cards, but nothing seems to fix it.

Has anyone else had this problem, and if so, how did you fix it. I despreately want to play this game, so any help anyone can give would be greately appreciated.

open .ini file.
search for forcevoxelengine=0 or forcevoxelengine=1.
change value.

BTW: Look out for old threats. It has already been discussed several times.

Na, it wasn't the processor, I have an Athlon. I think that there was a problem with my motherboard not supporting my GeForce 4 properly. I have downloaded the mosy recent MBoard drivers and flashed my BIOS with the newest stuff, and it seems to be working now.
