View Full Version : New Unit: V-2 (A-4) Missile

Back from vacation yesterday, here is the V-2 I was making. This missile is 100% scratch-built (no copy/pasting plumes and such). Contains all the necessary files and instructions.

Edit: uploaded a version with .ini files that use tactical nuke files for the explosion animation, etc (instead of the ICBM files).
Edit2: uploaded a version with shadows in the default animation (I accidentally left them out in the original, even though I had them when I was testing).

I have not tested the V2AttackA animation for vanilla Civ3 (can't find my CD, it's somewhere in my luggage). If someone who plays vanilla finds any problems with it, please tell me.

Wow!

This isn't any 2nd class unit. Not even 1st class.
It goes straight to 0.5th class (according to EN-ISO 7500-1). :thumbsup:

Uhm- right!!! That's one nice way of stating that it is A-Class :D

Krayzeenbk, why don't you publish a small tutorial for rocket scientists ??? Would be very helpful for the likes of me :)

The V-2 uses the nuke animation for the explosion. If you would like to make it a non-nuclear tactical missile (not 100% sure this is possible), use the death animation for the explosion animation.

Any way we could get the more conventional black and white version? I know there is one out there but it is a cut and paste version and this one is, well no offense to whoever made the other one, alot better.

I am wondering if this can be used as a Cruise Missile unit. I am already using a Soviet Nuclear Missile to represent the Nuclear Missile in the World War II/Cold War Era (Modern Era in my Mod)

No, the animation is too large, flicster can't handle flics of this size.

The animations are set up for tactical missiles/icbms. So I'd recommend this be used as a tactical missile, unless you want some pretty ugly results. It was technically a theater missile and judging by its characteristics, it would have likely been able to carry a nuke to tactical ranges without any modificiations, and carry one to theater ranges with modifications that would have been likely to have happened by the time the Germans had nukes.

I don't know if the AI will use it if you flag it as tactical missile only (not a nuke).

I've been testing this unit in-game, and there seems to be no way to implement it as anything other than a nuke. Anyone have any ideas? The animations are - as stated above - incompatible with a cruise missile.

Sorry for the bump, but I like this unit ... I just don't want to use it as a nuke.

Now that the master is back, let me ask my question again -- any way of making a non-nuke version of this? As in, a missile that looks like this which I can launch as a "cruise missile" instead of a as a "nuke" weapon?

I've been really busy with another game, as well as exams, so I don't know just how back I am.

@gorn: Have you tried what Raptor1 suggested? I admit I never tried this as a non-nuke. If it's impossible, it's a case of bad programming and design by Firaxis.

I tried to make it a non nuke, it looks REALLY bad It launches straight up and then it uses the flight animation and it kinda drifts side ways before crasing and exploding, This can be fixed only by turning the rocket sideways and making a new death Animation where it crashes into the ground like the cruise missle.

wow. Lol I wasn't even going to bother to look at this thread lol since I'm not much into the whole rocket thingy lol but since there isn't any other unit threads I havent looked at--this is amazing! VERY good animations! Keep up the good work--I might have to start looking at more rockets :D lol.
