To anyone with good graphics skills, The Mayor wishes improvements on the city seal to contain the terrain to replace the Water and the Submarine. The Obslick (Spelling?) should stay. The year of incorporation chould change to the year that the DG's Groton was founded. Conneticut should be replaced with "Fanatica".
Mayor: CivGeneral

Sarevok Feb 10, 2004, 10:02 PM are you glad that you are now dicta.... Mayor of the city you wanted named?
Cyc Feb 12, 2004, 12:44 AM Greetings Mayor CivGeneral. I'm just dropping by with a complimentary case of wine. One Mayor to the other, I hope things work well for you here.
tao Feb 13, 2004, 12:26 PM Greetings Mayor Bureaucrat #25 CivGeneral.
Let me present the following suggestions to your deliberation:
If a new city is founded NE of Groton (as proposed by quite a few knowledgable citizens of Fanatica) its borders will close with Groton and iron will be available. In this case switching the temple to barracks will enable not only veteran units but also upgrades and faster unit healing in Groton!
In either case, I strongly advise to build Groton's own worker ASAP to improve the terrain and foster faster growth and greater production.
CivGeneral Feb 15, 2004, 02:41 PM Update
Added City View and City Interface and the City Seal (Contest is in effect for myseal ;) )
The Graphics I am using are the Civ2 City Icons pack and the Roman Theamed City Interface pack :).
tao Feb 17, 2004, 06:45 AM To: Mayor of Groton
Since 7 turns, one of your citizens slaves on an ordinary hill. If you direct him to work the iron hill, he would generate 2 instead of 1 shields per turn.
In failing to do this, 7 shields are already lost.
May I also suggest the following mid-term goal for your city: grow to size 6 asap. Trigger wltkd (if necessary by specialist and/or clowns), because being far from the capital this will reduce corruption significantly.
To work towards this goal, try to make a deal with the neighbouring city of Sanction: build them a veteran warrior, if they instead build you a worker. Switch both city builds NOW. If they are stubborn because this reduces their growth: it would even pay off, if you build them an archer for the worker, if necessary.
PS: By working the iron hill, you are not in conflict with Sanction, since they would loose the extra shield to waste and they could work a forrest tile instead.
CivGeneral Feb 19, 2004, 11:54 PM Update: Maps and City View are updated.
ravensfire Mar 02, 2004, 01:25 PM Dear Mayor CivGeneral,
The Ministry of Internal Affairs, Land Use Department, is preparing the instructions for Groton. Do you have any suggestions for us?
Thanks!

Meaning that CivGeneral can be Governor of Berry and Mayor of Groton at the same time?

Yup!
Governor is an elected position that comes from the three books. Mayor is an appointed position, with no real power. It's used to create a relationship between the citizens and the game. Often, Governors will listen to the mayors.

Kato Mar 28, 2004, 07:35 PM Hey, we are getting the Forbidden Palace. Anyone know when that thing will be done? And.. well.. why Groton of all places?
ravensfire Mar 28, 2004, 07:50 PM Kato,
The Forbidden Palace has been completed! Already, the benefits are helping Fanaticans.
The FP was completed in Groton as it represents the other side of Fanatican land right now. An early FP, placed in a decent, although not perfect place, it better than an FP later on. The benefits of a strong second core are tremendous. Where it is placed, there are multiple cities that will have high production. It's also close to the border with Russia, Germany and Babylon, making it a potential war-front, where high production is vital.

ravensfire Mar 28, 2004, 07:52 PM Dear Mayor,
Your city has been languishing without your care. I have noticed that you have decided to reside in a different city that this one, the one you where you are the Mayor.
Do you wish to remain as the Mayor of this city? If so, please, be more active in the discussions!
Thanks!

CivGeneral Mar 28, 2004, 08:36 PM I beleve that the town of Groton would be excelent site for a FP. It would certanly bring in a whole lot of extra government officals into the city.
CivGeneral Mar 28, 2004, 08:46 PM Currently Groton is building a Marketplace.
My Build Queue proposal will be as followed here
Marketplace -> Library -> Temple
It would take 15 turns to finish the slash and burning of the jungles north of us. I would recomend that that should be used as a mining center once compleated :).
tao Mar 28, 2004, 11:00 PM Groton has the Forbidden Palace.
Groton has a temple (and a cathedral).
It is a huge waste of valuable worker turns to clear the jungle, since we don't need the tile until well after a hospital is built. (Same in Sanction.)
Instead of the mined grasland, we should work the irrigated; no delay in market, but pop growth.

Agreed. I had the growth set to zero to allow the Granary to complete. With that built, Groton needs to go back to growth.

CivGeneral Mar 28, 2004, 11:08 PM Hmm. Here is the new Build Queue that I wish to submit...
Marketplace -> Granary -> Knights
Kato Mar 29, 2004, 09:59 AM CivGeneral,
What are our options for a Build Queue (the save file doesn't open on my Vanilla Civ3 copy for some reason)? I also second the idea of keeping the jungles and irrigating the fields. Jungles and pasture are scenic looking, mines are not.
Also, what are the current improvements we have built? If someone could just throw up a screenshot of the current city screen at the top of this thread, it would be very helpful.
CivGeneral Apr 17, 2004, 03:07 PM I have updated the first post of this city thread
CivGeneral Apr 18, 2004, 02:14 AM With the new wonder comming up. I beleve it would be an honor to house the Newton's university. With this wonder we can quadruple the Science output of this city :).

You will not get Newton's in Groton!
There is no quadrupling!

Tao - There will be quadrupling when Newton is built in Groton. Newton will be built in this city. As I quote Chieftess "Put it in the city that has Copernicus (I think Groton). The effect is cumulative (and I don't care how much Tao tells me it isn't. ;) )."
The effect will be cumulative with coprenicus. Also another thing. One more outburst of a reaction will be treated like a flame post and will be reported. I suggest that you watch your tone.
tao Apr 18, 2004, 03:18 AM I'm sorry. But when I saw this, I just had to go bold and medium size.
CivGeneral Apr 18, 2004, 03:31 AM After much given thought and rough calculations. Groton would not be a good site for Newton's.
CivGeneral Apr 24, 2004, 01:22 AM The first post has been updated.
You may notice a few different things since I have added some new graphics mods to my Civilization III game. Some of the Major ones you will see is that the Iron is just an "Iron Bar" and the rubber is a large tire. On the terrain. I have found and downloaded the improved snoopy's irrigated tiles and I also found some excelent mines :).
