View Full Version : Stupid noob looking for save editor
Moonstone Feb 14, 2004, 03:51 AM Good morning!
Yes, I know I'm a stupid noob who isn't a computer expert, but is there a save game editor out there that:
1) Does NOT require me to download patches from Microsoft for all these arcane DLL or CSX or whoozitwhatzit files or reprogram this or readjust that;
2) Works for 1.27f Multiplayer Gold Edition (I don't want to hack a multiplayer game, I want to hack solo games);
3) Loads when I tell it to and doesn't give me runtime errors or "this file is protected" deals; and
4) Pretty much just works when I start it up with no fuss and muss?
I appreciate any help I can get.
Gramphos Feb 14, 2004, 05:40 AM I don't think there is any editor that matches your requirements.
All SGEs I know of other then C3MT were canceled before 1.21f, so getting any SGE that works with PTW 1.27f is sold if you don't want to use my tool. (And I'm not sure it works with that either right now since all the C3C stuff made to code look uggly (or at least in need of a rewriting of the BIC handling code)). And also the protection scheme used by C3MT is to protect GOTMS and other tournaments from being editied, and there is no way I'm going to drop that, however I plan to rework that too to avoid the risk that protection stays on games started after playing a protected game.
In short: I control the SGE industry for Civ3 and unless you are willing to create your own editor there is nothing you can do about it. ;)
Moonstone Feb 14, 2004, 05:47 AM I've no OBJECTION to using your tool, and indeed tried it, got an immediate runtime error, and tossed my hands up in the air. I'm afraid I'm no programmer nor Windows expert.
Gramphos Feb 14, 2004, 05:49 AM Did my tool create a snumber.log file in the same directory as the exe?

I am also a noob and would like any comment you have on this thread concerning save game mining for HOF material.

In the meantime I will go see if I can get your tool to work...
Thanks...

I feel for you man - though I have some computer expertise, I have no experience in tearing into files - thanks for the thread _ I will be watching it to see if you find the tool you are looking for (I need to find one too)

I reloaded it, reran it again, and again got the Runtime Error 9':
It did create a .log file, named s7.log.
Gramphos Feb 14, 2004, 09:50 AM open the log in notepad and post the contents here (or just send me the file)
Moonstone Feb 14, 2004, 06:44 PM Much obliged ... here 'tis:
INFO: C3MT session log file alpha version
INFO: This file will be logged to by a tool session
INFO: If everything goes well by the end of the session the log will be deleted
INFO: If the tool crashes this file will stay, and may have valuable information regarding the crash
INFO: Note that some data from files worked on as well as constants and settings found might be shown in this file
INFO: Before sending this file with a bugreport you should read through the file and see that it doesn't contain any info you don't want to give away

STARTUP: C:\PROGRAM FILES\ATARI\C3MT\::1.9.1

Gramphos Feb 15, 2004, 02:25 AM That doesn't look very well.
Have you installed 1.02 using the full install it seems as if you are missing the winsock control which is needed for the splashscreen. To be able to check for updates, or the common controls with the progressbar.
