I'm interested in joining or beginning some PBEM games and I was wondering if there are any IRC channels or something where you guys/gals meet up. I read Gonzo's post about free PBEM chatroom but as yet a chatroom hasn't been organised it seems; only the instructions on how to get there.
Also I notice a lot of you people posting your games progress when a turn is complete etc, isn't it easier just to send the email? Or do you do both so other members in the game can track the progress even if their turn is not next?
If anyone's interested in inviting me to a game or playing whatever I create; this would be my first PBEM game I'm a competant monarch C3C player but could probably make the move to emperor now.

Dude, i'm in the exact same spot. I've never played a PBEM, i can win pretty much every game on Monarch and i'm ready to move up to Emperor.
I'd be happy to try a PBEM with you, we just need a couple more guys, and i think it'd be best if we posted here that we sent the saves, that way, if it stalls somewhere for a long time we can figure out who's hanging on to it.
Thing is, i'm not quite sure how to do a PBEM, i mean, i guess you just stick it right in the E-Mail, don't need to do anything fancy?
Also i'd like to know how to post/edit screenshots for others to enjoy, i know it involves hitting Print Screen but that's about it.
So if it you're interested in playing with me Kaboth, i'll be happy to join, we ought to start discussing settings for the world/victory conditions.

Hi Captain Commando I'd be happy to play with you. I've been looking at this post http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=78298 and heihojin seems to have some real great rules. I'm going to try and get in contact with him and ask if I can use his rules as the general community seems to like them. My only changes would be perhaps change difficulty to monarch and water to 60%.
Just experiment with a PBEM game for yourself and you'll see at the end of the first persons turn a box will appear with the option save and exit. Then you email that save file to the next player.
As for posting pics which is fun but not necessary once you've done print screen you can post the image into some form of paint/photoshops program (even Windows paint works) then crop it save it. To post use file upload at bottom of forum screen and upload your pic. Copy it's location by right click/properties when you see it in upload # folder. the use the insert image tool in your post and paste it's link location. JPG seems to be a good file format to save in. Make sure you make sure the image is cropped and small size before doing this not like mine is :D

Ok, sounds good, think we ought to set up a new topic to recruit and start the game, i don't think anymore than 4 are necessary because it seems half the time the game gets shut down because their are too many people and the game only comes around once a week, so maybe we can have like, 4 Humans and 4 AI's or something, or whatever you think is best since you're the masermind here.
We can "borrow" Heihojin's rules and pick Civilizations, and once we have enough people i guess we just have to define what order the game is going in and who is sending to who to make sure there are no problems or confusion.

Hi there, I'm up for playing by email--at least I think I am. I'm in two games but neither has gone beyond the first turn so I'm not entirely sure how much fun it will actually turn out to be.
I play monarch and don't mind doing MM because the AI is surely stupid sometimes. Most of what I know I learned on the various threads around here, especially the War Academy. A lot of details to know about this game and sometimes I forget something simple. I figure I'll always be learning more and getting better.
My weakest areas are probably diplomacy and military strategy Maintaining growth and balancing expansion vs strength is usually not a problem. I tend to get hasty in combat but am learning to relax.
I have lately learned that I need to learn more about civ abilities vs UUs vs types of maps vs opponent civ abilities....etc. I guess it is all interrelated.
I anticipate humans to be several orders of magnitude tougher than the AI.
Anyway, I'm available to play every day and you won't catch me holding up the game.
Have to wait & see if I'm 'easy pickin's' or a slim customer.
