A Military Coup leaded by General Rustam Gurov overthrew President Vladimir Putin yesterday. In his first public speech, Gral. Gurov said that the country wonīt return to a communist system, and promised strong military action against the chechen nationalists "and all other threats to Russian sovereignity".

The coup was non-violent in nature, as nearly all the military supported Gurov. Putin resigned near noon and is now detained in a military base near Archangelīsk.

The world offered differing views on the event. Most western european nations repudiated the coup as "a gross violation of democracy and human rights", in the words of Jacques Chirac. However, bielorussian president Alexander Lukashenko saluted the new government, reviving his dreams of a Russian-Belarus merger.

Hans Kaufmann was designed chancellor of germany yesterday, after 50.4% results in the National Assembly and 53.6% in the National Convention. Christian Democratic Kaufmann based most of his campaign on the need of stopping russian agression in the east.

"Gurovīs regime is tainted with the blood of the thousands of defenders of russian democracy, of innocent chechens and moldovans that refuse opression, and of the citizens of other former soviet nations", said Kaufmann last night in his victory speech in the Bundestag.

Since Gurovīs rise to power one month ago, he has united Russia with Belarus and invaded the former soviet republics of the Middle-east, Georgia, Armenia, Kazajstan and Azerbaijan. Gurov has also sent troops to intervene in Moldova to quell the Trans-Dniester Crisis.

In a lightning fast military operation, the german military ocuppied Switzerland yesterday. The country fell in less than twelve hours, as it does not mantain a large standing army, but bases itīs defense in a drafting system that allows it to build a militia of millions in less than a week. "We knew they would organize their troops if we took a long time to capture Bern, so we decided emphasize speed" said Gral. Althaus, commander of the attack.

According to Chancellor Kaufmann, Switzerland was invaded to stop what he called "financial terrorism", as this country allegedly sells banking services to east european dictatorial nations.

The Swiss government in exile, however, replied that Kaufmannīs real objective was to ransack the vast swiss banking system to fund an eventual war with Russia.

Spain Joined the European Solidarity Pact (EUROSPACT) with other 14 nations: Germany, Britain, France, Italy, Finland, Latvia, Ukraine, Turkey, Egypt (as an extra-european member), Lithuania, Sweden, Belgium, Luxembourg and the Netherlands. After intense negotiations Chancellor Kaufmann of Germany will preside the alliance for the first year. During his opening speech, Kaufmann didnīt discard future preventive wars against states which might present a menace to European safety (as last weeks occupation of Switzerland).

WAR IN SWITZERLAND UPDATE

By now, all civilian resistance actions are ended. Switzerland is working just as before the german attack. Most of the occupying troops have now retired to Germany proper.
