IMHO, to begin this is NOT going to be one of my actual story threads. The focus of this is just going to be the hard difficulty.

I've already played several turns of this game, and here are some updates as of now:

My starting place: (quite possibly the worst ever)
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/The_worst_start1.jpg

The settings were all set to random (all except map size, which was huge).

So far, I've found out it's an archy map, and I'm alone on an island by myself. Which is a good thing with the starting poistion, because it's going to take me forever to get anything productive.

I've also managed to build the Great Library in Copan, which is a HUGE blessing.

You're right, that is a terrible starting location. Good luck!

Let me get this straight.
huge map, all random on sid = 15 computers.
you have 2 cities, at only one population, I dont see any signs of another settler so i'll assume this is some time before the 2000 bc.

How did you get the great library with a size one city that early on? I would like to know if sid give you a huge advantage or something? Can you give us the full screen shot that you posted so I can see your science rate? Because getting literature that early is just incredible!

Oh, that was just a screen to show my starting locations, I'm inside of the early AD's now.

If you want, I'll go and get an up to date screen immediantly.

All I can say is building the GL from that start at Sid is a miracle.
Even with the civs being some what isolated, I would expect the GL to be up no later than 110BC.

That is 122 turns. Yu need to research the tech and then crank out a 400 shield wonder from a town that had mostly jungle tiles and mountains.

That is some feat.

It's not that bad. You get mountains and hills, plus fresh water, so your capital will be a production monster later. But you do need to found another city for popping up settlers and workers.

For the jungles, read this: Jungly Germany (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=78033)

You'll get a lot of resources! :D

Good luck.

My point is not that it is a bad location. Yes you can clean it up, but it will take time. Too much time to get a GL built in less than 122 turns as far as I can see.

Ag start with Alpha so you get a leg up, and you have industrial workers, but no food tile outside of the city center.

Actually, to add onto the feat, the GL was not built in my capital, but was built in Copan.

When was Copan founded?

One more question. Were the tiles that are improved in the first shot jungle or marsh or grassland? The one with the cow and two mined ones.

I guess the cow must be a grassland tile.

I guess the cow must be a grassland tile.

One of those were cleared away, and the other grassland and cow one was already there.
