I've got, what I think is, a really cool idea. I've just finished both Rome Conquests, and see some people are working on revamped Rome scenarios. But why not position Rome in their glory days, except a couple hundred years forward. What I mean is, take Rome from the days of Caesar Augustus, or from some other time during the Pax Romana. Then use a little bit of imaginitve realism (for lack of a better term) and correct enough of Rome's mistakes to let them survive till the 1500/1600s, still in good shape (only now there fate is up to you, if you choose them, that is). Next, use the same ideas and have some of the barbaric tribes partially settled. Not so much as to where they're where they really were at that time, but not barbaric at least. Use a world map to make it. Pretend the Romans, instead of dying out, conquered more land, maybe even expanded close to China. Somewhat change the lands so they are adopted to Roman rule/influence. In the Americas, there are no settlers for Rome sets its collective sites towards conquering Asia/Africa. The famous Aztecs and Mayans will fall, like they really did, but new tribes will arise to replace them, and establish their own legendary kingdoms. The Africans are pretty much not affected, other than there is not European occupation.

Its tech tree can reflect how Rome, this time, correctly adapts to its situation. Such as Imperialism, can upgrade to a more Democratic form of Imperialism. There could be a technology called Conquest (for earlier Rome), and then upgrade to Passive Conquest (so they do not drain their finances as they did in real life). There could also be a technology, called Self Defense, or Border Patrol, or Enemy Containment, which would have a militaristic bonus (so they do not fall to invaders).

Now it would be nice, if the units were units reflecting how Roman troops would look, if they had survived that long. Definitely Greco-Roman style. Imagine Greco-Roman style Infantry, or Marines. That would be REALLY cool. :-D

Im not sure if making all civs playable is the BEST option, but definitely make Rome playable, at least.

Well heres a possible title:
Rome: What Could Have Been

I have a fair amount of modding skills, I just cannot create unique units, or tech trees but can do anything else :-D, so I'd help, if needed, but I'm not interested in leading this (which is why Im puttin it as an IDEA, for someone else to lead). Someone more experienced should be leading it of course :-D.

Anyways I'd really like to have a scenario like this, maybe you could even expand it into a mod :crazyeye: who knows? All i know is I'd love  to see it.

Any comments/suggestions/questions please just post here and I'll do my best. And before you start, please just post here letting me know :-D, it would be most appreciated!

perhaps, but i'd prefer if they were at one point forced into a peace settlement, losing land, but still strong, yet more powers.
