black screen,

Try adjusting screen resolution. 1024x768 at 16 bit color depth/quality, or lower.

Try 32bit if you're on 16, or vice-versa, etc. No guarantees, though.

You might want to try reverting to old drivers. I have heard complaints about the latest nVidia drivers, so that might be your problem.

yeah i just got the game, and its really stressing me out, coz as soon as i click on the icon... i get a black screen that i cant get rid of. no error messages or anything. i read your post about the drivers... i have
NVIDA Geforce Fx 5600 could that be the problem? ive tried changing my resolution but that didnt help. i dont have any more drivers for my graphic card though, i cant change them.

What windows are you using? I have the same problem when running under XP. Then I tried using 98SE, which I have installed on a different drive, it works fine.
I have no idea what causes this.
