View Full Version : Zork available for free download! CivCube Feb 28, 2004, 02:57 PM Check out the classic game here. (http://www.csd.uwo.ca/Infocom/) FortyJ Feb 28, 2004, 09:30 PM How very coincidental... I actually downloaded Zork I the other day out of pure nostalgia. These games are pure classics. AceChilla Feb 29, 2004, 01:54 PM Zork, I always got lost in those woods :D Riesstiu IV Feb 29, 2004, 10:52 PM So, what is Zork about anyways? Story-oriented IFs are more fun, IMHO. Photopia, Shrapnel, even Aisle are more amusing than Puzzlefests like Curses and Zork. Of course, people stopped playing IF years and years ago, so these great games are generally unnoticed, even though Adam Cadre, Andrew Plotkin, etc. are just as creative as Shigeru Miyamoto, Hironobu Sakaguchi, Sid Meier, and others. Oh well... Achinz Mar 01, 2004, 06:49 PM Originally posted by Riesstiu IV So, what is Zork about anyways? IIRC a great text adventure game in the earlier days when computers were not too hot with graphics. In many ways it is more stimulating and challenging than graphics-based games because you need to use your imagination more and of course master the (limited) vocabulary and the technique of checking everything possible in a given scene. Infocom was one of the leaders of this genre. |
