tao Feb 29, 2004, 04:12 AM to: Governor Elect of Berry
from: Governor Elect of Audiac
Greetings colleague! Let us work together towards a glorious future of Fanatica.
Right at the beginning, I want to suggest that we coordinate our build queues.
Since Audiac has a lot of food, I want to propose that we produce the much needed settlers and workers. (Not too many workers, since we already have 16 industrious ones.)
Because Berry already has barracks and is closer to our most likely enemies in the south, I want to suggest that you concentrate on building (veteran) units and not decrease your population and production capacity by building settlers and workers.
What is your opinion on this? You find my intended build queues here. (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&postid=1631759#post1631759)
ravensfire Feb 29, 2004, 02:52 PM Governor CivGeneral,
While reviewing our overall situation, I've come across a matter that I would like for you to look into.
Deux Rivières is currently working on a Barracks, with the citizen laborer on the mined hills. It will grow in 15 turns. I suggest moving the laborer to the irrigated wheat floodplains. This will allow DR to grow in a mere three turns, a difference of 12 turns. While the contruction may appear to be delayed, because DR will grow that much faster, and continue do so, the net result is faster production.
Should you adopt this approach, I would further suggest posting orders to the DP that, when the city grows, the new laborer is placed on a mined bonus grass tile. The growth rate of DR from size 2 to size 3 should then be 5 turns. If the next t/c goes a full 10 turns, DR should grow again, from 3 to 4 towards the end. This laborer could also be placed on a mined bonus grass. The end result is a larger, more productive city in a short time. A win-win for all!
Thanks!

Civanator Mar 01, 2004, 07:40 PM CG, you here?
Anyway, I withdraw my application for deputy, unless you really need me to be here.
truckingpete Mar 02, 2004, 05:06 PM Governer,
The people of Huntington want to build a harbor, not a barracks. If we build a harbor, the city would get more food. Plus we want to build a navy for warfare and trading. The Village Council of Huntington took a vote and they want a harbor being built, not a barracks. The Council thinks that the land lock cities can build land units, while we build navy for transportation for troops ifwe go to war.
Thanks you.
From,
Mayor Truckingpete, Village Council, and citizens of Huntington.
CivGeneral Mar 02, 2004, 07:35 PM Truckingpete - Youre Request for Huntington has been processed :).
ravensfire Mar 03, 2004, 09:42 AM Governor,
I wish to draw your attention to the last chart on this page (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=1632691#post1632691).
In short, culturally we stink. We have a grand total of two cities producing culture - DR and VM. As you plan for the next few turn chats, the Ministry of Internal Affairs strongly urges you to consider some vital cultural initiatives. While we understand that there are other demands upon your cities, the need for culture is undeniable.
Our armies may capture cities, but strong culture will keep them ours. Our settlers may found new cities bordering with other civs, but strong culture will keep them ours. We must begin to rectify this situation.
As we plan for the next turn chat, please remember to help the starving artists of Fanatica!

Rik Meleet Mar 03, 2004, 01:53 PM Dear Governor CivGeneral.
Topic: Harbor.
I strongly and wholeheartedly want to thank you for assigning the city of Huntington to a harbor-building task. This is very good for trade possibilities. Not only to our newly found tradingpartners Egypt and Greece, but also to India in case of war with Babylon (traderoute goes around the continent, through Russian and German waters).
And who knows who we'll meet sooner or later; those yet undiscovered trading partners can deliver their goods to that same harbor. We can build a complete trade network, and all because you are brave and enlightened enough to start a harbor.
My thanks also go to truckingpete for requesting it in the first place, apparently for non-trade options, but I'll forgive him. His view is distorted by warpaint, but his conclusions are right.
Thank you,
Regards,
Rik Meleet
T&T Minister.
ravensfire Mar 03, 2004, 08:27 PM Governor,
Regretfully, you didn't see my comments about DR and some slight changes in the labor allocation. Here is a summary of the impact.
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/DR_Comparison.jpg
As you can see, if the changes had been made, DR would be in a much better spot right now. In the same amount of time it would have completed the Barracks. The difference, of course, is that DR would be size 3, not 1; produces 5 shields, not 3; produces 5 extra food, not 1; and produces more commerce.
You've got the heart of Fanatica under your management. We all want to see it flourish under your capable hands, but we will point out suggestions now and then, as I'm sure you'll be able to help me at times.
Thanks,
-- Ravensfire

War has begun against Babylon, and we are at a disadvantage at this point in time. To remedy this, i ask that you prepare massive military buildup for our armed forces to survive and ultimately prevail in the upcoming struggle.

Peri Mar 05, 2004, 09:47 AM Do we have an absentee Governor here?
Civanator Mar 05, 2004, 02:31 PM In one hour he'll have been gone for 48 hours. does this count as being absent? In his profile it says his last post was at 5:03 P.M. (EST) on March 3rd.
ravensfire Mar 05, 2004, 03:29 PM 2. Should an Executive or Legislative leader fail to post
instructions for 2 consecutive game play sessions,
without posting in the official absence thread, any
citizen may request that the office be declared
abandoned by creating a thread in the Citizen forum.
a. The Chief Justice shall then send a PM to the office
holder, notifying them of the request.
b. The Chief Justice shall then post in the request
thread that the PM has been sent.
c. Should the office holder fail to reply by posting in
the request thread within 96 hours of the PM, the
office holder is removed and the office is
considered vacant.
He did post instructions in the recent t/c - so there is no clock ticking.
CG - Where art thou!?!?

Civanator Mar 05, 2004, 08:27 PM If DR is micromanaged to this configuration:
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads6/DRMM.GIF
It would still produce the Barracks in 4 turns, and make it grow in 5 turns instead of 10.

tao Mar 14, 2004, 12:11 PM Governor CivGeneral,
may I suggest to you not building swords or spears but horsemen. Soon there will be those nasty creatures called pikemen, defense 3, 4 if fortified. And our poor swordsmen will die. Swords are powerful in the Ancient Age, but a dead-end unit. No upgrade in plain Civ. (Only in C3C they can advance.)
Horsemen on the other hand are fast in reaching the enemy, can retreat if red-lined, and can be promoted to strong knights and earth-shattering cavalry.
Build horsemen! Please!!
truckingpete Mar 14, 2004, 02:13 PM Governor,
The people of Huntington want to build a barracks. Then after the barracks, we would like to build a horseman...After that build one ore horseman .Plus once we get too a size that we can't grow anymore...we suggest to build an aqeuduct...
Thank you!
From,
Huntington Citizens
ravensfire Mar 17, 2004, 09:04 AM My Lord Governor,
The Ministry of Internal Affairs wishes to remind you that we are now celebrating the birth of our Republic after thousands of years of despots ruling the land. We are now free of the iron hand of tyranny!
This change has many positive benefits for us - your lands are now more productive. Your cities will grow faster with more food. Your centers of learning will burst with new funding, and knowledge.
There are some concerns though. Primarily, with freedom comes the voice of protest. Please remember to review all cities in the current save for their status. The labour allocation within all cities should be examined for efficiency and effectiveness. In addition, our cities will be growing faster, much faster in some cases. Should a city grow in a turn chat, please include instructions on how to deal with it, including if the new citizen is unhappy and would trigger a revolt.
Finally, the Ministry of Internal Affairs is greatly concerned with our lack of culture. We are at peace, at the start of a new Republic and poised for growth. Please consider requesting funds from the Senate to rush cultural projects such as Libraries for those cities that could benefit.
As always, the MIA is ready to assist in any means necessary.

Recently I had to reinstall Windows XP to correct a problem (Which can be found in the Computers section of the forums). I have corrected the problem and will get back to work ASAP.
Hopefully my laptop will co-operate in the future. As for the instructions, I have placed my appology in the March 17th TC.

Furiey Mar 17, 2004, 07:46 PM Sorry to hear that CG - I know how long it takes to get everything back again - I had to do it myself late last year!
You might want to have a look at Deux Rivieres - it's grown quickly but to keep it happy has 2 specialists! - you might want to consider changing production to a Settler to drop the population a bit. If you MM for production this could be done very quickly.

Im not a fan of hireing clowns to keep a city happy. Though its time to have it pop out a settler to releave the pressure of the happyness.
ravensfire Mar 18, 2004, 08:58 AM Alternatively, DR still doesn't have any improvement that will affect happiness - no temple, no colosseum.
While a settler is a Good Thing (tm), including some improvements in the build queue will have a greater long-term impact. DR is one of our major production sites. Although it can quickly (8 extra food!) recover from population loss, it can also be configured for high shield production.
-- Ravensfire
Furiey Mar 18, 2004, 10:07 AM I can indeed be a high shield producer - with only 10% on the lux slider to get one of those entertainers back to work it can produce a nice round 15 shield per turn! giving a Temple in 4, Colusseum in 8 or Settler in 2. As our only other Settler is not due for 7 turns and we do still have land to fill in it seems a good opportunity. Either that or hold it at 15 shields and produce, Temple, Cathedral or something (we need culture as well - either way we don't want those entertainers sitting there!

After the Settler has been built to releave the extra citizens of the population unhappyness punishment. I can add temples to improve happyness and to bost our culture.
ravensfire Mar 23, 2004, 09:25 AM My Lord Governor,
As a reminder from the Ministry of Internal Affairs, please make any cash requests to the Senate soon! The Cultural Attache has requested that I remind you that we are lacking in culture, and to point out that Libraries are an excellent choice that will provide culture and improve our research ability!
Thanks,

zorven Mar 27, 2004, 01:31 PM Lord Govenor,
As a vested land owner and ranch operator in Vo Mimbre, I desire to see the city build a great aquaduct to guarantee the flow of water to our lands and people. I believe this is vital to the growth of the city and the ranch and farming operations of the area. Please consider this request when putting together you next fiscal plan.
Thank you,
zorven
truckingpete Mar 27, 2004, 03:33 PM Governor CG,
On behalf of the people of Huntington, we would like to build an aquaduct. It will help us grow. So after the temple we would like to produce an aquaduct. Thanks for building the libray too!! We are very smart in Huntington with that library!!
Respectfully,
Mayor Truckingpete and the People of Huntington
