View Full Version : Term 3 Ministry of Internal Affairs - Whole lot of settlin' going on!
ravensfire Feb 29, 2004, 01:02 PM Welcome to the Ministry of Internal Affairs!
Term 1 Ministry Office (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73718)
Term 2 Ministry Office (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=77215)
Minister of Internal Affairs: Ravensfire
Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs: Krabius
This Term should see the claiming of the final sections of land that we have stated belongs to Fanatica, and where interlopers have not created illegal settlements. The MIA relies upon our illustrious MoD to rectify that error in their judgement. :hammer:
During this term, we plan to settle the remaining open lands, switch to the Republic, and start several wonders, or at least pre-builds for them.
As always, the door is open stop by for some fine Fanatican wine or beer!

Krabius Feb 29, 2004, 01:18 PM Thank you ravensfire! I also thank everyone who voted for me, even though not knowing me good. I hope to show you what I can do during this term as Deputy.
I will serve my country the best way and try to get familiar with the game. Anything I can do now?
-- Krabius, Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs
ravensfire Feb 29, 2004, 01:30 PM NOTE: The following was originally posted in another post, but was moved here for space reason.
After running such a tremendous election contest , it is a honor for the Ministry of Internal Affairs to annouce the appoinment of Krabius to the post of Deputy Minister of Internal Affairs.
Please congratulate him, as we all do here at the Ministry, on his position!
Back to our regularly scheduled post ...
One of the areas that the Ministry of Internal Affairs in responsible for is Culture. Although we're a bit lacking in that right now (only two cities have any culture!), it's something that we need to keep an eye on.
We need to identify and monitor our cities that are influenced by culture from other civs (ie, at risk of flipping) and cities that will benefit from cultural growth (needed land available from border expansion).
We also need to track our cultural strength relative to other nations - how do we compare to them, etc.
Any help in that area would be greatly appreciated!

Krabius Mar 01, 2004, 08:02 AM Ok...
So what is the next thing I can do?
ravensfire Mar 03, 2004, 09:51 AM Status Update:
Instructions for the upcoming turn chat have been posted - please let me know if you have any questions or concerns!
Polls for Settlements in the East and West are up - results will determine the next 3-4 cities. This will complete the borders - the next few polls will fill in Berry and Audiac provinces. Some thought must be given to investigating the large ocean to our East for more land to settle.
The JR for changing Governments is under discussion - we hope the Court will find that the MIA has the authority to poll the change in Government and post the results. Should they decide otherwise, other measures will be taken.
The time has come to determine the borders of our third province - a discussion thread will be started sometime after this turn chat.
A cultural initiative has started. Our culture is beyond merely "weak", it's downright pathetic! We must correct that problem!

Krabius Mar 03, 2004, 10:57 AM Mr. Minister I think that building military in the city that can flip (taking all those warriors with it) is dangerous, we must first secure it culturally.
Sarevok Mar 04, 2004, 10:57 PM At this point we will now need extensive military build-up as babylon has declared war.
Mithridates Mar 14, 2004, 02:23 PM Mr. Minister:
I see the remote village of Sanction has no official citizens, if I were to be mandated there as a mayor I would relocate from the capital immediatly.
Krabius Mar 15, 2004, 09:45 AM Sorry for not updating the stats and all, but i got lots of exams. But gladly I will have the last 3 tommorow, so I will go back to work right after school.
Furiey Mar 15, 2004, 04:07 PM Minister Ravensfire
If the peace negotiations with Babylon go through, we may get a number of Babylonian cities as part of the deal. These cities however will be very prone to culture flip and it has been suggested that we should donate some or all of them to other Civs. I believe these cities will fall under your office, so I felt that I should bring this to your attention to enable the appropriate decisions to be made. The discussion that has taken place so far concerning this is in this thread (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=81711)

It would be my greatest pleasure to do so.
Be it hereby noted, that Mithridates, having requested the office of Mayor of Sanction, is duly recognized as the holder of that position.
Good luck, and congratulations, Mayor Mithridates of Sanction!
Now that you are the Mayor, you might ask what does that mean?
First, you should create a city thread. Have some fun with it in fact - look at Huntington as an example. You're on the Eastern frontier of Fanatica - what can you do with it?
Second, help the Governor of your city out. Right now, that's the MIA. Suggest build ideas, micro-management, etc. Look at what's been done with other cities - but have fun with it!

Hope your exams have gone well! When you've got the time, please update your charts for me.
Also, if you would head up the cultural discussions, and push for more culture, that would be greatly appreciated! Being in Republic, we can now use our hoard of cash to improve our cities!

The MIA wishes him the best in this endeavor!

NOTE: This is being posted from work, without access to the save. It is based purely on information available from the forums and my memory. Thus, several area are subject to change due to severe brain spasms.
Settler Instructions:
To be determined by poll
NOTE: Do not move any settlers unless there is either a military escort or you feel there is no military threat to that settler, including barbarians.
Government Change:
None - stay as a Republic!
MIA Controlled Cities:
Groton:
Build: Forbidden Palace!
Queue:
Micro-Manage:
None. When city grows, maximize production while still allowing some excess food.
As the hills are mined, reallocate workers to maximize production. If going negative in food will allow FP to complete prior to population loss, you may do so.
Sanction:
Build: Library (CHANGED) rush requested
Queue: Granary
Micro-Manage:
None initially.
Mūre:
Build: Library (CHANGED)
Queue: Worker
Micro-Manage:
None. When city grows, maximize food.
Mr. Rogers Neiberhood:
Build: Temple
Queue: Granary
Micro-Manage:
None.
Acheron:
Build: Library
Queue:Granary
Micro-Manage:
None. When city grows, maximize food.
Finklewink:
Build: Temple (CHANGED)
Queue: Worker
Micro-Manage:
None. If another city can be found for a Scientist, please allocate worker to maximize food. If no other city can be found, continue use as Scientist.
Almaren:
Build: Worker (CHANGED)
Queue: Warrior (rush requested), Temple (CHANGED)
Micro-Manage:
None. When city grows, maximize production, then food.
Worker request: Use worker to cut down forests to speed temple.
For all cities under MIA control: The DP is authorized to reallocate laborers as needed should a city go into disorder or to manage growth.
NOTE: If requested cash rush expenditures are approved, the MIA explicitly allows the DP to use their discretion on when the rushes are done. We have no problem with delaying the rushes if funds are needed for trades or other projects.
NOTE2: It appears the Senate will approve (tragically, wastefully) an option that will cost us money to get a tech one turn earlier, and set the luxury slider to 0%, with 10% permitted only for riots. Should the slider be set to 0% luxuries, the DP is permitted to reallocate labor as needed to maintain peaceful cities. Emphasis should be give to production, then food, then commerce. Specialists may be hired as needed.

ravensfire Mar 24, 2004, 11:11 PM General comments for the next turn chat (so I don't forget them!)
The Ministry of Internal Affairs recommends that the following items be considered by the appropriate Governor. This list is incomplete, and reflects observations from putting MIA summary together.
St. Octaviansburg
Change to Granary, queue the Aquaduct. City is at size 4, and will not benefit from Aquaduct yet. It will benefit immediately from a Granary.
Raven's Flight
Change to Granary, rush, queue Harbor, consider rush. Potential to be commerce powerhouse.
Huntington
Change to Granary, rush, queue Aquaduct, rush after 1 turn. City is pegged at size 6, allow it's potential to be realized.
Vo Mibre
Change to Granary, rush, queue Aquaduct, rush after 1 turn. See above.
Vandelay
Will grow in 2 turns, and will possibly riot.
