TheMorpheus Feb 29, 2004, 01:46 PM Wow , very nice unit :goodjob:
Wyrmshadow Feb 29, 2004, 01:49 PM Call me crazy, but isn't the distinguishing mark of a Wyvern the scorpion stinger on its tail? And also it's main attack weapon?
embryodead Feb 29, 2004, 01:56 PM The model didn't have a sting. You can use it as drake if it bothers you.
Besides, there quite a lot of pics/paintings/descriptions of wyverns with plain or spined tails... D&D bestiary isn't the only one in the world... As a mythological creature, wyvern is just an evil dragon with two legs.
[Ant]Wimp Feb 29, 2004, 02:05 PM or perhaps as a Nazgul
Great unit ED!
Drift Feb 29, 2004, 02:13 PM Thank you :worship:
You really turned a somewhat clumsy model into a class unit. And nice sounds too. :)
BTW, I didn't even know wyverns were supposed to have stingers. I've always thought they are simply two-legged relatives of dragons.
Mr. Do Feb 29, 2004, 02:41 PM Very nice unit! I was expecting it to be riderless, but the Orc on top really adds to it and is a definite plus (As well as giving a Civ colour)!
When I collected Orcs the Wyvern model release did have a sting in it's tail, but I never considered it an important point, and I expect that it's main method of attack is it's huge gob anyway!
Raw is War? Feb 29, 2004, 02:58 PM Looks class
Vuldacon Feb 29, 2004, 03:15 PM You really turned a somewhat clumsy model into a class unit. And nice sounds too.
I agree with Drift. Very Smooth and subtle moves with the animations. Looks Great! :goodjob: Wonderful Fantasy Unit Addition, Thanks embryodead!
Gogf Feb 29, 2004, 03:33 PM I too agree, great job Embryodead!
tjedge1 Feb 29, 2004, 04:06 PM As they do have stingers in D&D, it isn't important. They can attack with either, but with a rider, the tail might be as dangerous to the driver as to it's enemy. Wyvern's aren't known to be smart you know.
That said, I love it. These will be a part of a few civs with much needed "air" type units. Thanks and :thumbsup:
EDIT: :hmm: About the stingers, maybe they were cut off as being a danger to the rider prior to being tamed and taught to hold a rider. A precationary procedure to keep the rider safe from having a stinger in his back by accident. If it bothers those who like the stinger version that could be an explanation as to why it isn't present on the unit.
Kinboat Mar 01, 2004, 08:04 AM Cool :D
CamJH Mar 01, 2004, 08:51 AM Awesome!
This unit goes straight into my library, my scenarios, everywhere. Great job! :D
Sic_Berserker Mar 06, 2004, 02:48 PM thank you VERY much!!
Its a great unit
Mr. Do Mar 07, 2004, 11:06 AM Also: how about you change the colour to black, modify the rider a little, and hey presto, you got a makeshift "Wight Lord riding Winged Nighmare" unit for the vampires!
embryodead Mar 07, 2004, 12:45 PM Well, I can't really do anything with the wyvern except chaning it colour, so I don't think it's a good idea. It will still be a wyvern.
Mr. Do Mar 07, 2004, 03:21 PM Winged Nightmares are just put-together from whatever huge beasties that the vampires/ necromancers have close to hand anyway- there's no reason why you couldn't have a winged nightmare based on a wyvern... the only qualifier is that it has to be winged and scary! Maybe you could keep it in mind as a back-up plan if no zombie dragon materialises between now and when you're finished with version 2.0...
embryodead Mar 07, 2004, 03:46 PM I have Zombie Dragon in 2.0 right now, though it's just a Black Dragon, scaled down, without civ-color (purely black) or breath attack... but it's ok for me. only for Khemri though.
Drift Apr 26, 2004, 02:53 AM Is there any need for color conversions of this? Something like this for example:
mrtn Apr 26, 2004, 05:14 AM Drift, if you don't post them there will be a need. :p Murphy's Law...

Drift Apr 26, 2004, 08:25 AM Okay. I'm open to color requests. The dark red and black shown in the preview can be considered done. Any other colors in particular that are needed? :)
Mr. Do Apr 26, 2004, 09:19 AM Well, I'd definitely like the black one, so if you're making it anyway, that's great.
Drift Apr 26, 2004, 04:46 PM Here they are. I tested with blue and purple too, but the result wasn't very good. This isn't as versatile a unit as the dragon in terms of coloring.

aaglo Apr 27, 2004, 01:58 AM Good grief - these colour-conversions look really good :)
tjedge1 Apr 27, 2004, 06:21 AM Very nice. Now, you are not helping me to make my mod smaller. :D
Mr. Do Apr 27, 2004, 09:50 AM Good shtuffs! I added the blakc one as a Winged Nightmare in the WH mod, works well enough for me (I was amused at how it already had an entry in the civilopedia though).
Amesjustin May 12, 2004, 03:16 PM Would it be possible to a get riderless versions of these?
tjedge1 May 13, 2004, 05:39 AM What Godzilla monster would it be? I'm not very familiar with the flicks.
Amesjustin May 13, 2004, 10:45 AM It actually wouldn't. Since currently all Godzilla monster units exist only in my mind, I am toying with an idea for a Civolution mod in the meantime. Basically with all-animal civs that can take different evolutionary paths, eventually leading to early man or manlike-creatures (Skaven, Goblins, and Gnolls might be alternate paths). There will be 2 culture groups - Warm-Blooded and Cold-Blooded, and I will use traits/flavors to influence and vary the AI civs evolution. Some of the evolutionary paths will mimic what Earth did, some obviously will go deep into the 'what-if' territory. So I am looking for animal-only units of any type at this point.
These units unmanned might make a good pre-dragon for the Cold-Blooded Civs. They would upgrade to Dragons basically because dragons are supposed to be bigger, more powerful, and have forearms.
tjedge1 May 14, 2004, 07:58 AM That's cool sounding.
