Goober Feb 29, 2004, 09:53 PM This should be in "Computer Talk", a Mod could move it for you. Cannot answer the questions, other then try scanning the e-mail with a virus detection system.
Admiral_Tarton Feb 29, 2004, 09:56 PM You have some truly evil worm and your virus protection program is saving everyone your trying to e-mail?
(just a guess)
bobgote Feb 29, 2004, 10:51 PM yeah you have a virus. and this should be in computer talk. i'll just go have a look around to see how to fix this...
bobgote Feb 29, 2004, 10:58 PM http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_MIMAIL.R
ok, firstly its been changed to the mydoom worm, so its the same as that.
here's the link for that.
http://www.trendmicro.com/vinfo/virusencyclo/default5.asp?VName=WORM_MYDOOM.A
anyway there is a solution on that page that you should be able to use.
here is a link to the AVG info
http://www.grisoft.com/virbase/virbase.php?lng=us&type=web&action=view&qvirus=086fda5c5c9e7000
now your new pattern may be able to stop it coming in, but you still need to remove the virus. both those sites should be able to help you.
ashley26ph2003 Mar 01, 2004, 02:40 PM Thanks ill try
Nixnutz Mar 02, 2004, 06:39 PM If the Trend solution didn't work for you go here (http://vil.nai.com/vil/averttools.asp) and download Stinger.
That'll take care of the sucker.....
The other possibility is that the host's scanner may be producing a false positive, but I kinda doubt it.
ashley26ph2003 Mar 03, 2004, 04:42 PM I try stinger and no virus or worm detected just it says al files are cleaned
How would i know that my PC has no worn or virus?
bobgote Mar 03, 2004, 06:29 PM well, can you send email now without your server rejecting it?
ashley26ph2003 Mar 04, 2004, 03:49 PM Why after scanning it not shown that the worn or virus is deleted?
MikeLynch Mar 04, 2004, 04:15 PM I think that does indeed happen. My antivirus program has registered 0 viruses when I *know* I've got one, but after the scan, all seems well.
Then again, maybe it's still there and I'm just not noticing anything.
Nixnutz Mar 04, 2004, 06:32 PM Hmmm....
That version of Stinger that you downloaded will detect all variants of MyDoom.
I'm beginning to think that the host is showing a false positive.
If you have AVG updated and have run the Stinger, you should be clean.
They may be scanning using something called heuristics, which looks for patterns that could indicate the presence of a virus, worm or Trojan. If the scanning software finds anything close to the patterns its looking for it will show a hit.
Have you tried sending any email since?
