I am looking for a freeware/shareware program to convert mp3 to CD format (most only do it the other way) does anyone know of one they can recommend?

Something like This? (http://www.snapfiles.com/get/mp3dec.html) If not, snapfiles has a search function there. Got a lot of Trial hits, but didn't look past the first page.

thanks for that (nice location btw - BOC) specifically what I want is to convert mp3 file to the standard cd format (not wav or any other format) - just about all converters I've looked at won't do this - I was hoping someone had come across a specific program to do this.

edit: I, searching snap-in now ... I think my copy of Steinberg Cubase will do it but in a long-winded way.

You mean the format like that music CDs use? AFAIK almost all burning programs convert it automatically when you burn a music CD.... I don't know why else you would need the format besides making a CD...

Whenever I want programs like that, I hit Download.com.

Though Speedo is right; you should be able to use a burner to do it without even thinking about it.

'Course, I try to avoid using MP3 files, due to the frequently detectable lower quality. I rip stuff into WAVs when I want to make CDs. But I speak of compilation CDs, not CDs of downloaded stuff.

what speedo said.

if you're burning it to cd (only reason i can see to put it in that format), your burning app will do it.

I use Musicmatch Jukebox 8.2 (http://www.musicmatch.com/), it's functional and best of all: free. :D

Although it's mainly used the other way around ie getting mp3s from CDs it can also be used to do the reverse, and it seems from now on it will be freeware:

thanks for the replies - I never thought of the cd buring software (D'Oh) I'll give it a try!

Audiograbber looks good - I'm downloading it now - might be very useful. CHeers

If you use Easy CD Creator or Nero, they can do that, too....

I use Nero. It works perfectly. I think there is a utility from Winamp ("WinampCD" or something like that) which I think is freeware, but I'm sure on that.
