hi guys,

this is going to be my first attempt at playing monrch level. I began at cheiftan, and after reading everything i could find here, i decided to jump strait to Regnant. Here was my first regnant game: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=75632 . I stopped in the middle part of the middle ages, since i felt i was too ahed of the AI, it their wasn't enough stuggle on my part. I have never played a Rengant game after this period on the tech bar. One things i will change is i will mine more on grassland.

I will be playing the Ottomans, simply becuase I like their traits.

...On a Huge, Argepelego map. All default victory conditions besides diplomatic (don't ask) are on.

I'm aiming for probably space race. I will mainly be peaceful, and will probably only fight for reasources, luxury and strategic, and explansion that I need.

I don't like that idea of super-currupt cities, which is what I'll get on islands far away.

I simply want to build a good empire that can defend itself and (this has nothing to do with the game, more of a personal thing) make my people happy (this does not mean i will be building all happy buildings and wonders), that has enough money.

Govs: I don't know, yet.

Wonders: all depends. Since this is on ilsands, content-oriented wonders aren't as desirable.

....Now I have to figure out the whole patch thing...I have 1.13, should I get 1.15?

i have restarted a few times before i got a good one. two cattles!

Plan: i am researching pottery so that i can make a settler factory. afterwards, i will be going for the great library -- i gues it's more benificial in higher levels, and in a huge map it will be expecially helpful. I hope i see enough luxuries to keep my people happy. here's the opening shot:

i now expanding. when, and if, i discover and find iron, I'll kill the babylonians. I am getting ready to build the GL, and am starting the FB. for the GL, i'm getting boats ready to find other civs. I want to fill in all my terrirory on my island/continent so nobody can settle there, so i can use libraries for culutre (they are cheap for me, since i am scientific).

IMHO by restarting & getting that start, you've dropped 2 difficulty levels. A river, 2 cattle, and 3 BGs?!

You should try running a regent game with the first start you pull up, regardless of quality.

Good luck though!

I agree. Anyone can restart for a "good" starting position but it takes skill to be able to win from a less desired start.

You have a nice sized empire. I hope you get those Babylonians off your island!

Keep going, this is turning into a good story to read. Also, keep up the screenshots, they keep it interesting. :)

Okay, as long as someone is interested.

I'm probably going to go for a space race victory, even though I can, if i wanted to, go out and kill some civs.

I'm currently ahead in the tech tree, 2/3 into the middle ages.

My biggest rival is the Arabs (not in reality, the game i mean). While i have little military, they are sepearted by ocean, though close.

I have all the strategic resources so far, but have only 3 luxery. SO far, that's fine, but when i get hospitol i might need some help, in which case i may trade, conquer, or raise luxtax.

Wonderwise, I have St. back chathedral, i'm going for smith trading company, and perhaps, perhaps leanardos workshop, the art of war and, very unfourunatley, Sistine are taken (SGL i think).

ALso, a problem: in between my capitol and the city above it, there is some unused terrain. SHould i build a city there, or leave it alone?

Here's the pic:

question: is a aqueduct required to build a hospitol? If you have both, can you seel the aqueduct without being otherwise penalized?

Correct you need Aqueduct. You can't sell/destroy aqueduct.

I have a granary, but i don't have the benifit of it...why?!?!?!

You built it in last turn? You need one pop growth.

Yes, you are doing a great job. However there's one thing I notice you lack... WORKERS! I may be a little worker crazy, but I feel you need some more. Just my three cents.

But all tiles currently used are currently worked. Anyway, I am pretty busy to play much, and Gengis Khan was right about me having an unfair advantage. I'll be getting more workers when I have hospitols, railroads, and pollution.
