How to join
If you are using a normal IRC client like mIRC, first join the irc-chat IRC-network.
In mIRC you can connect to the network by writing in the editbox (where you usually write):
/server -m irc.irc-chat.net
(The "-m" option makes a new server window.)
When you are in, type:
/j #demogame_cfc_isdg startthegame
Ankka Mar 07, 2004, 10:49 AM NIce thread, should be stickied.
Ankka Mar 08, 2004, 01:00 PM One thing: you're an admin too, not only a op.
Cheetah Mar 08, 2004, 02:30 PM Right.
Donovan Zoi Apr 04, 2004, 12:23 PM FYI, the room is currently not password protected! Pggar from C3B was able to waltz right in without typing startthegame, and I tested this and confirmed it. He has concerns about the confidentiality of an open chat room and I don't blame him.
Can we fix this? :)
akots Apr 05, 2004, 02:31 AM Yes indeed. I just tried and entered without password.
Is there any other possibility to connect without mirc client? Not that I'm greedy but paying $20 just to chat for ISDG...
And how to type all that? In command line?
Sorry for stupid questions.
Ankka Apr 05, 2004, 08:43 AM mIRC is free, you don't need to pay anything to use it.
Cheetah Apr 06, 2004, 09:54 PM Fixed the password. I'm in Houston on vacation ATM, and don't have much internet access. Will be fully online again on friday.
You write it in the editbox where you normaly write what you say and so on. I've edited the first post to inform about it.

Beg to disagree. It is shareware though it must be registered otherwise using it violates EULA.

This happens (no password) when the room is empty. Even on a short brake it nulls the password etc...
Should we try and get some bot or something to keep it up all the time, whadda you say, Cheetah?
Ankka May 22, 2004, 11:56 AM I merged this thread with the Gov't info thread to make a big compiled info thread with all needed general info.
Pegster May 22, 2004, 03:59 PM Is it possible to have an access list for the chatroom instead of a password? That's both easier and more secure.
It's not possible on all servers though.
