Two most appropriate positions, with suitable scope for deviation from history, might be...

1. March 1973 - date by which all 'allied' forces have been withdrawn, and the release of prisoners.

2. April 1975 - the fall of Siagon to the NVA.

Input?

Dependes upong who the player is supposed to be: America 1973, South Nam: 1975. Althrough if it's both: Go for the later date ;)

Not only SVietnam but also Laos and Cambodia became "red" at that time. Besides no US troops after 73 does not mean much. Money, weapons, advisors were still provided in large numbers. And private armies were organized by the CIA to replace for the vacuum of the US Army leaving.

:) I am pleased to agree with everyone's input - which is greatly appreciated.

Interestingly, perhaps, is that other opinions I have canvassed elsewhere are likewise...

how about no time limit?

what would have happened had the s. vietnamese held out longer than they did?

granted, they held out much longer than most had thought they would.

but the point would be to leave this option (holding out vs the collapse) open.
