I started out as the Romans on a Huge Earth map, Regent level. I always played with the Romans on Civ II and thought the Legion would be fun. Or so I thought.
I landed in Seattle and started to explore around a bit. I instanty discovered that there was no fresh water this side of the Rockies so no Irrigation (Old news) Made my way done the West Coast and settled the coast. Made my way over the Rockies and started to make some cities. That was when I found the Egyptians (fitting) We exhanged some Techs and made Peace. I was quickly thinking that the Midwest was rather dry. But none the less that was what irrigation was for. I then discovered Iron. Iron, iron everywhere. Woo hoo. I had three Iron mines within my borders. I was turning our Legions left and right. I then started for mexico. I ran across a Russian Warrior and we exchanged maps. I then saw a Iron mine in central america and plopped a Warrior on the spot waiting for a settler to come a settle it. You see, the Russians had NO IRON in South America. NONE. If I took the last iron mine I could walk over Russia to Brazil and have some Coffee. Meanwhile...
I built the Pryamids as is necessary to win this game and got beating out of the Great library so I had to settle for Colossus. And was "Romanizing" some Barbarians all over Canada. I then noted that the Egyptians are getting a little land happy over there. I wanted the area that is modern day St. Louis so I would have access to the water but Cleo dumped a city there just as I was sending my settler there. Then I thought a would head down the Mississippi to New Orleans and she did it again. Well sharpen your swords and lets go. ( against others beliefs, combat is rather easy, at least with a legion.) I rolled against the Egyptians turning them back left and right. I pushed them to the Appalachains and then I thought of stopping just after I took atlanta. Then, because of a bad move on my part, She killed one of my leaders. Yes I had developed two leaders in this little Campaign. So I looked north from Atlanta and saw Mephis and the Hanging Gardens and went for it. I sent My Army there and a few tires later I took it. They quickly came calling and sued for peace. And sue they did. I got two cities and only had to offer 2 gold per turn. I was up to 300 gold and making 10 gold a turn and I thought this peace treaty wont last anyway. But then things calmed down. We entered the Middle ages I had almost all of North America and was sailing. (or so I thought (
I switched to a Republic and thought I would need to concentrated on Domestic Affairs if I am going to get the Middle Aged Wonders.
The Republic was not all that it was cracked up to be. Corruption was a problem but I don't see as much as a problem but a challenge. I noted that my capital was in Rome, in Seattle, which didn't help the corruption. I started buiding Courthouses and things you need.
Time goes on. I was getting bored. We are Romans and we get bored with peace. And I wanted to get rid of the Pesky Egyptians. I was building Leo's Workshop and JS Bach and Sistine at the same time and thought I would wipe up some Eqyptians. I delcared war and then It happen. EVERY SINGLE CITY WENT INTO DISORDER. almost. It seems I still have several Eqyptian citizens and they didn't like the war and so did the Romans. I quickly took a City and the sued for peace. I got another city for the Peace Treaty. BUT DAMN the Disorder. I tired it again later and DISORDER AGAIN. I then lost Sistine chapel to someone named Gandi. And then it said that half of the map was Building Leo. I quickly stopped my hatred of the Eqyptians. And then My wife came home and I Stopped.
i did the replay and watched the map thing and noted. NO ONE WAS FIGHTING. That is right I am the only civ fighting anyone. It is going to get crowded soon since of the 11 civs that started only the Egyptians are weak and that is because of me. It is now 1360 AD Gotta Run
