Hello.

This is a specialist Multi-figure unit for Civ3, "Tribe."
Made from default Civ3 units: Warrior, Worker, and Settler; using Steph's SBB utility.

Usage recommendations:

Basically, this unit replaces the Settler for the early turns of the game.

In my Civ3, I have made the default Settler require Map Making, and have Tribe the only starting unit for all civilizations... all civs start with two Tribe units, and expansionist civs start with three. Since Settler is unavailible until Map Making, and I've made the Tribe unit extremely expensive to build, this lowers the extensive settling during the early parts of the game.

If you don't want to do extensive modifying of the game, I suggest just making this unit a more expensive Settler, with a few abilities the settler does not have - the Tribe.ini is set up for combat, and for road building.

Installation:

Just unzip the file to art/units/ and have fun.

The .ini links to some default sound effects, so you don't need to move any sound files around. Although I would prefer sounds more fitting to this unit, it works fine for now (and I don't know how to mess with the sounds, nor want to add the extra d/l size from the waves).

I have included two Civilopedia Icons and a units_32 icon in the zip as well. If you don't know how to add them in, you don't need to bother as it doesn't effect the unit's performance in game. For the unit icon in units_32.pcx, you could just select the Settler icon to use as well, or some other icon you feel fits.

First post! Wohooo. I like it. Looks like the Pioneer MU, except with a warrior and a worker and not a rifleman :)

Nice. I was trying to do something similar but with a shaman instead of the warrior...

Can you give it a try and do it for me?. It's intented to be used for the shaman settler unit in DyP.

Thanks in advance.

Well, I could... but considering you've done enough of it to make an animated preview, what's keeping you from completing it?

I usually don't do requests, because if it's my unit then I know what I need it to do, you know?

I might give it a go after my current project, though. :) Will it require any working or fighting animations? Or you just need a passive settler unit with a shaman figure?

I wish my mod could be as sweet as the DyP mod...

Sweet Multi and a neat concept. May make it into my mod... but.. honestly, I dunno. But ti is sweet.

I couldn't get the pediaicons to work. i put them in the correct folder and changed the pediaicons.txt. what's wrong?

I'm not sure... did you use the pediaicons from the zip?

I rarely use unit pediaicons, and it's been awhile, I wouldn't know... sorry. :mischief:

Oh... just noticed the timestamp... sorry for the near 3 month reply, I don't get around here that often... I've just had Civ on the brain the last week or so. :crazyeye:

While you're here, great unit. I don't often use MFU's (i.e. never really) but I will use this one - MFU's should be useful combinations of units, like yours, not just 2 tanks next to each other or 5 riflemen somehow able to synchronize their fire perfectly.

Great Stuff! More I say!

I dunno.. ever since I found Steph's tool I've been pumping out munits like crazy. I will say this though, there's alot of people that can't make good munits. But I still appreciate that they put their effort in and inspire me to work better on mine. This unit is one of the really good ones. GJ!
