My third game playing at Chieftan. Started as Americans. Had to play my home country. ;)
I thought expansionist got better goody huts. All I got was 2 tech, 2 empty villages, 2 give $25.

Playing with the following game plan.
1 - temples asap, you want to be able to use ALL of the city tiles.
2 - Protect settles always. Protect workers near / outside borders.
3 - Expand cities agressively, the computer will.
4 - Hunt down Barbarians. At the early levels, easy to Kill and get the +25 encampment bonus.
5 - Settlers work different! If you found a city in the forest / jungle, they auto clear!
6 - Don't be afraid to kill a few people at Depotism to rush things

4000 BC - Here comes Washington!
2900 BC - City #2 - New York. I ALREADY found the Iroquis. Wierd. Second American game with they were my neighbors!
2070 BC - Headaches already. The Iroquis are moving south. Not surprise, jungle above them. This may get bloodly quickly. Worse, I NEED to head north. Looks like the luxuries are to my north.
1325 BC - I have determined that WAR will happen with the Iroquis. The question is just when. ZERO luxuries to the south. However, I do have iron. :)
30 AD - Wealthiest nations. My neighbors are #6 and #7. I am getting very nervous what I will find on the other continent. I may be blown out the the water with tech later.
210 AD - Building up the swordsman for city protection. War is soons, as I am ALREADY almost out of good city sites.
390 AD - After trading world maps I find out I need - Galleys. 2 land masses seen. Far up north. However, I now I have fur source (multiple), however will take a long time to get there.
450 AD - WAR. The Iroquis must die! Conquering time table: Niagra falls (460 AD), Cattaraugus (470 AD), Allegheny (490 AD), Salamanca (520 AD), Oil Springs (560 AD - Locking in the Aztecs), Grand River (570 AD - Access to spices), Tonawanda (630 AD - Blast, he snuck in another city!)
710 AD - 2 Iroquis cities up north. WAY up north. They will be around for years :(
780 AD - Starting to march up north. Very long trip. Barring the Aztecs declaring war, looks like a lot of boring turns coming up. I will take a while before my military is ready for the Aztecs.

The big question? What is Persia, Babalyon, and the other civs up to. More to come later.

890 AD - The Aztecs begin to weaken. Tlacopan admires my culture and joins me.
910 AD - We just enter the middles ages :( I am scared that the other Civs may turn out way ahead of me.
950 AD - [B] Your victory has produced a Great Leader - Washington :) I get one!
980 AD - The great unit wall is up against the Aztecs. Barring a gallery, they are boxed.
1040 AD - Swithcing to Monarchy (Finally)
1060 AD - Galley finally makes it to the land masses up north. Hey, something to do.
1120 AD - Well the upper land masses are just 2 small islands. However, one has horses. I will have to settle on this one, just to keep them out of enemy hands.
1170 AD - End of the Iroquis.
1495 AD - Malinalco admires my culture and joins me. First event of interest for a while.
1515 AD - Almost 10000 in culture.
1540 AD - Golden Age ?????????? I thought I had one already.
1615 AD - I get Gunpowder. I have 2 SaltPeter sources ;). One is them is on the junk islands I took. My defense for that Island will be getting strong fast.

----------------------------------------------------------

Well I have already outgrew Cheiftan. :crazyeyes :crazyeyes

I realized several more mistakes on my learning curve, and decided to start another game at level 2. With the new food box rules (don’t keep expanding as cities get large), mining grass is fine. Cities are easier to expand now.

Irrigation works on Diagonals know! You can keep the NO shields mined, and the ONE shields irrigated.

If on a smaller continent, kill your opponents quickly.

Watch the unit upgrades path.
Pikeman go to Musketman, but Swordsman doesn’t. I built all Swordsmen, so Musketman were a pain to build again.

Watch the governors. They have a habit of selected what you DON’T want. Even with manage production turned OFF.
