those who follow the thread about me next geat project pobably already know it. for the others, I'm glad to tell that the beta version of my new animation editor is almost finished.
This editor is not dedicated to CivIII first, but to SSS. However, I think it may be interested to all of the unit modder, as it can be used to resize, cut storyboard in two...

I would like to add a last feature : a size reference. The idea is to select one foot unit, one cavalry, one plane, one vehicle and one boat. In the preview of the animation editor, you can select which one to display, and it will be shown beside your current unit. The zoom factor will affect only your unit, not the reference one. This way, it will be easier to resize the unit correctly.

Question is: what should be the reference units?

So please tell me here what is the reference
- foot unit
- cavalry unit
- vehicle unit
- ship unit
- plane unit.

First of all.....Iam so happy! finaly the right tool that i searched for.

Let me help u.

- foot unit ==> the default ones from CIV3
- cavalry unit ==> the default ones from CIV3
- vehicle unit ==> M1A2 Desert version (Ripptide)
- ship unit ==> hmm hard one...I have no clue. I like those from Wyrmshadow & Akula! But some of them are 2 small.
- plane unit. ==> F15 Eagle (BeBro)

but plane unit should perhaps be divided between fighter and bomber?

If you are looking for one unit only?

Foot unit = spearman
cavalry unit = knight
vehicle = panzer
ship = very difficult, perhaps one sail and one modern ship?
sailship = frigate
modern ship = battleship
fighter = fighter
bomber = bomber

Bombard reference units:
Ancient/medieval = catapult
Industrial/modern = cannon

I need ONE unit for each class.

Well honestly, I think all my nw ship make a good precedent for each ship's class. None are to scale because civ just wont allow thoe orts of sizes and still keep the ame resolution.
Battleship size: Ticonderoga, Bismark
Cruiser: only slightly smaller than battleship
ww2 destroyer: Fletcher
patrola boat size: any of my soviet patrol boats

As for any mehcanized unit from tanks to planes, ignore Firaxis standards. I think Ripptide's tanks are too large and his planes too small. So atleast a 10% variance in zoom in each proper direction would be warranted.

The good thing with the new editor is you can zoom in / out any animation very easily. So it will be piece of cake to correct them. But we need to decide what is the correct size.

Hey, Steph...
I just d/l your civilopedia editor (sorry to post here, but I lost the thread)

It's fantastic, but it could do with a copy/paste function. Do you have any plans for that? Or does real life keep getting in the way? :)

Euhm...got 1 question!

Is this the tool which u can resize the units?

Steph

Yes, but warning, the tool is not made for CivIII at first. So it can be used to resize unit, but it requires some work with Flicster, it is not completly automatic

hmm oke.

I went to this page http://www.civfanatics.net/~steph/Pages/download.htm

But what do I have to download just tot resizing units?

I did this:
1) Download the game itself, unzip it in a folder (2 files)
2) Download the map graphics, unzip it in the same folder as the
game.
3) Still to do.....

After point 2 I couldnt stop my self. And tried to run SSS.exe
It didnt work! why?

Because the Microsoft framework is MANDATORY...
Most of the time, when someone ask to install a microsoft component to run a software, this component must be installed, are it doesn't launch...

The graphics are not necessary to use the animation editor, they are needed only for the map editor.

But now I have to see it get it to work.
Hmm damm.....thats harder than adding units :(
