This may be the wrong place, bt I have a question.

Is it possible to find out the seed to a saved game? I had a wonderful start and would like to play around with that seed.

Please help me!

Possibly.... If I have time, I will try and look for you. I presume this is in a saved game. Is it conquests or PTW or Civ?

Yep - can be done. Post the save, and I'll tell you the seed. :)

Try 78786705.

If that doesn't work, then you may need to ensure that the world age, world type, climate etc are the same - I'm not sure if the seed takes the world characteristics into account. I can check that too, but it will take more time.:)

ainwood:
How the heck did you get that number? Was it from the .ini file? AFAIk, random games don't record the seed in the .ini file.

No - its stored in the save file itself. The ini file only stores the last played world seed. :)

What did you use to open the save file. I tried CivMultiTool; but it does not give the seed number.

If you post it here, I will get the seed for you. ;)

Is the method a secret?

I don't have a save file that I want to extract the seed from. I just want to know how it is done.

Thanks for the offer though. :)

Its not really a secret. What you have to do is uncompress the file, look at it with a hex editor then convert the bytes into an equivalent seed. :)

Sparrow: the GOTM staff knows *lots* of little tricks that they can use to help spot cheating. This is just a byproduct of one of them. ;)

ainwood & Padma: Thanks Guys!
Now I know. Not that it will do me any good. I don't know enough to do what ainwood said. :(

Oh Well! Thanks again.
