Hi, this is the thread for the new PBEM game I plan on starting.

It is for Conquests, using the MP version of the Mesopotamia scenario and the patch 1.20.

No preselection of civs. I have picked up civs randomly for everybody (so no complains please !), the results are as follow :

I already use 1.20 in the PBEM I am in. Sounds much more flexible.

Yep, 1.20.
What you could do (I tried but failed to do it prooerly, had to reinstall everything so I don't want to mess with it again) is to duplicate your Civ3 folder and to update this new one with 1.20... ??

If we don't get a 7th player by tomorrow, I propose we start and use an AI for Phoenicia (in the middle !).

There's no need to duplicate entire Civ3 folder.
I just made copy of Conquests folder within Civ3 folder and renamed it to C3C1.15, and then updated original Conquests to 1.20. It works perfectly.

LouLong: Sounds like a plan to me. I am GMT -4 if that makes any difference in the order of play.

OK we are full (hopefully everyone remembers they volunteered :) ).

Civs were picked up absolutely randomly.

I will send ASAP a mail to all players to see everybody is ready and including some "rules".

Since I have never seen a PBEM go faster than a turn per week (after it became routine), I don't think time lines will be that important. As the creator, I will need to modify the MP file so that Mycenia starts though. Nothing else will be changed.

My email is working. I've never had a problem receiving PBEM games and in fact I just got one. Check your end and send the email again.

OK I resent the mail since it seems only EliitMees, Portuga and fanste got it.
El_OSO failed to get it, Greybeard's e-mail got me a user unknown reply and the mails I send to MFCamillus don't go through (otherwise game would have been started already). Since I cleant my system 2 days ago I think (hope ?) it is not a virus pb.

3/ process
When you get a turn, please send immediately a reply stating you got it and expect one when you send it to the next player. That both puts some pressure on some lazy players (lol) and make it possible to track where it stopped, if it did.
I don't expect us to make one turn a day but the fastest we make it the more interesting it will be and then the faster it will remain.

4/ some are new to this scenario. I would advise them strongly to play it at least once with the civ they got otherwise things might be though for them.
I expect things to turn out pretty differently than they usually do in the standard scenario.

Good :) That's exactly the aim, to be directly into the game.
If everything turns out alright (PBEM + scenario creation), I should launch in about a month two scenarios and set up two PBEMs based on them. Spanish Crusades (Reconquista) and Spanish vs counter-reformation 1580-1640 (the Great Armada, the Irish and Dutch rebellions, the French civil war).

BTW @ all : of course, no negociations before actually meeting.

Maybe one of you guys could help me. The only patch I have loaded is 1.20. This game is the only one I saved. If I downloaded the 1.22 patch would it affect this game or the save.

If you have enough space on your HD, inside the Civ 3 folder copy your Conquest folder and rename it to Conquest 1.20 then ou can apply the patch on the regular Conquest folder. Otherwise your game won't be able to open AoW since the SAV itself is not upgraded in the process (oterwise we would have done it already). If I am not clear enough, tell me.

Actually all you need to do is zip up the files within the Conquest folder (not the directories) and the text directory. It only takes up about 10 mb zipped. Rename this zip file to Conquests1.2.zip Then apply the patch and repeat the process creating a new zip file named Conquests1.22.zip

You then right click on the zip file and select extract here depending on the version you want to use.

Just wondering where the game is. Things were moving along pretty good but it's been about a week since turn 8 started the rounds.

I started and sent turn 9 on May the 5th so you obviously played turn 8... :) It is just when I feel the game runs smoothly I just don't post all turns started here anymore.

We are 20 something turns in the scenario and the Hittites are leading by score so it is not a "bad" replacement.

We got a pb. I received 3280 BC file I already played 3240 BC. Either a file was wrongly named or someone played the wrong save, meaning we lose 1 or 2 turns.
Please check your SAVEs.

It is my fault (or that of my computer). I seem to be having problems downloading. I tell the computer to save the file, it behaves as if everything is ok, and then I go play the game. Problem is, I end up playing a previously saved turn because the computer did not transfer the file.

I will now triple check to make sure that I have the correct file.

We hope that Emperor Greybeard, the Cowardly is satisfied.

This is true. But, I don't recall suggesting they take a stroll along the main road of our land on their way home. :nono:

Look, either they go the quick route or the long route. You can designate, but please be specific, they're young and get lost easily.

You should have let our boyscouts help out! The desert horsemen just whacked off one of your worker parties! We can't move w/o confronting them. If you have a preference of movement, please let us know...

We would appreciate it if you would stay of our roads so you do not hinder our troop movements or we may have to remove you forcefully. :ninja:
