I'd just like the minimap to center at the area shown in the main map.

IIRC, it did this in civII.

This is actually one of the biggest issues I have with civIII.

It would also be nice if you could zoom on the minimap, in effect be able to see the whole would at once like in Civ2 maybe full screen or close to full screen.

It would also be nice to remove or move the minimap, especially in those scenarios with map edges.

I like the static minimap.

OTOH, they might introduce the SMAC system, in which the minimap was centered on your start loc.

Or, best of all, make it switchable between centered on the area shown in the main window, and independently scrollable.
