Last weeks, I have read a lot of stories here in this forum. Last monday i decided to write own on my own. I hope you like it, comments are welcome ofcourse! happy reading...

Characteristics:

Map : standard - continents 70% water - no barbarians (hate them) - temperate - normal - 4 billion years old

Options: diplomatic victory disabled - no culturally linked starting position

Level : regent, 7 AI
This week i've played GOTM30, thought the conquest class would be quite my level, since a few weeks i've played at Monarch, winning diplomatic most of the times. With that GOTM however, I've lost my faith. Spain was a backward civ and could nothing do... Let's try it agian at regent level...with Egypt...

Cleopatra's Piece of Gambling

After years of arguments a woman was chosen to lead the Egyptian people. She was seen as a kind of a compromise between the several Egyptian clans. Each of them thought she would be easy to manipulate. History has shown them to be wrong...

The first thing Cleopatra did, was already a nice piece of gambling: instead of walking around the globe, she ordered to build a city near a great lake and a jungle. "The jungle," she said, "would give us everything we need through the year. We will build a city here, named after the my son, Thebes." Ofcourse, a lot of Egyptian clan chiefs had another point of view, but Cleopatra did not give way to them.

In the years after the settlement, everything went quite well for Cleopatra. The Jungle of Mother Nature gave a flood of fruits and at the beaches of the Holy Sea several kinds of fish were regularly washed ashore. In spite of a booming economy, thanks to the neighbourhood of incense and gold at the Capital Hills, Cleopatra had difficulties to keep the budget out of the red...

After sending out a team of exploration warriors, who found a second source of incense, a lot of clan chiefs claimed for a second city, more at the east of the Jungle of Mother Nature and next to the discovered sources of incense. This second city was meant as a place were the elite of the Egyptian people could gather. In order to silence the clan chiefs politically Cleopatra gave them their city. Cleopatra herself, however, stayed at the city of Thebes.

At 2750, Memphis is finally founded. The most of the chiefs moved their house to Memphis, even if they had to walk fifteen days and nights. Cleopatra was thinking of building a road through the Jungle of Mother Nature to Memphis. That way she was able to control a little bit the chiefs. Meanwhile the exploration warriors explored another forest, which they spontanuous named the Cleopatrian Forest. They decided to continue their exploration mission to the north...

The plans of exploration had changed. A few years after the exploration of the Cleopatrian Forest, the exploration warrios saw a huge desert, which they called the Desert of Rivall. They changed the direction to the west to take a jump in the lakes of Mirala...

Outpost warriors at the Capital Hills saw in the year 2310BC a strange unegyptian man. He was painted white and talked a language with other kinds of sounds. The warriors -afraid of being attacked by the man- took their axes and were already threatening. It seemed, however, that the man did not have any weapons at all and he was just scouting the continent for a civilization called the English, or something like that. The man was brought at Thebes and Egyptian scholars were able to learn the secret of warrior code from him. The Egyptians gave him a paper of the egyptian knowledge of masonry, in hieroglivian alphabet ofcourse.

Explorer-warriors finally found the location of the English people. They are not that far away from Thebes. Cleopatra knew she has to hurry if she doesn't want end up with a land even fertile as the Rivall Desert. She drew her planes on the table:

In 2004 Bc, Cleopatra would like to know how happy the Egyptian people were in Thebes. She ordered a monk, St. Augustine was his name, to travel the world and take notes of the hapiness in other empires. Augustine came back with this list:

Cleopatra tortured the monk and he died two hours after he gave his Great History of the World. How could any other people be happier than the Egyptians? The monk's body has been sacrificed to the god of Mother Nature. (Read: the body was taking into the jungle and left there for any carnivore...)

Following her plans, Cleopatra built another city, Heliopolis (City of the Sun) in 1910 in the northern region of Thebes.

A few years later, in 1790, some settlers underway to build another colony discovered an excellent region for bottling wine. Meanwhile, the exploration warrior team has crossed the Etzyr Mountains and is now exploring the Etzyr Valley. In 1685, Cleopatra has ordered the settlers to build a city, Elephantine, in the wine region. That way she would be able to spread the concentration of clan chiefs out of the empire, instead of one hard core in Memphis. She tought this would ease the opposition to her policy...

Another strange man was walking through the wine region. His language seemed to be the same of the English but he seemed to be more arrogant. He was member of the American people, he said, and was looking for fertile grounds ready to be cultivated. His leader, Abe Lincoln, was willing to give us the knowledge of bronze working in exchange for the Egyptian alphabet. Cleopatra agreed and sent the stinking man away a second after he gave her the secret of bronze working...
