I would love being able to rename your civilization during the game. So, for example, if you were playing as Russia, and you became a communism, you could rename yourself the USSR. Not that big, but it would be great!

View Full Version : Rename Civilization Gogf Apr 17, 2004, 06:49 PM I would love being able to rename your civilization during the game. So, for example, if you were playing as Russia, and you became a communism, you could rename yourself the USSR. Not that big, but it would be great! steviejay Apr 17, 2004, 07:02 PM yeah, that'd rock. I mean, we get to rename our units already, into things like "The First 'We Love Theodora' Army", so why not just name other things, like mountains and stuff. Would be quite funny in multiplayer if you're playing as Rome and one of your neighbours renames their Civ to "we're behind you Ceaser" lol rcoutme Apr 17, 2004, 07:13 PM This idea would also be lots of fun if you started with the "actual" starting groups as well. For instance, I start with Meso-America. Later, I decide to go Mayan. After a bad period of stagnation, I become the Aztecs and go sacrifice some enemy butts. Ditto on Northern Europe, Mediterranean, or whatever. This would also really rock if some of the Civil War suggestions were incorporated. Now the Roman Empire could really split into Itallians, French, Spanish etc. Shyrramar Apr 17, 2004, 07:40 PM I am definately behind this idea :goodjob: And It should be easy to implement, too! EddyG17 Apr 17, 2004, 10:17 PM Along with this idea maybe a button that rename a stack of units instead of doing this one by one. I want to rename my 30 infatry men to Easy Company all at once or the 101st division. And when your troops are all lost, the Military advisor could say : "Sir, We've lost contact with the 101st division, I fear the worst" EddyG17 Apr 18, 2004, 10:14 AM After you conquer all euro civs, you rename your civ to The European Union. Vizurok Apr 18, 2004, 10:48 AM Good idea! For example Rome Ancient: Roman Empire Medieval: German-Roman Empire Industrial: Naples or Piemont Modern: Italy Only one civ but it has several names! Vizurok Apr 18, 2004, 10:50 AM Yeah, my 50st post! Thank you CFC! :thanx: [party] I know thats very little, but personally I'm happy with that! h4ppy Apr 18, 2004, 11:01 AM Originally posted by Vizurok Good idea! HRE has nothing to do with Rome, I recomend: Rome, Venice, Papal States, Italy. Congrats, mate :) As for the naming Idea, to some it may seem purely cosmetic and useless, I back it all the way. Not only would it be alot more fun, but it would fix problems like: 'England or United Kingdom' or 'Aztecs or Mexico' Something so simple as renaming your country, physical features, etc. should be simple to put in. It's just one of those 'no objection' ideas CIVPhilzilla Apr 18, 2004, 12:44 PM Yea, that would be a pretty cool feature to add. shr00mz Apr 18, 2004, 03:12 PM i agree.. i play with the romans and that would be great to rename civs.. and about that military advisor could say ...,i fear the worst.. now that is a litlle thing that would make me really happy :) Gogf Apr 18, 2004, 03:42 PM Welcome to the realm of those who have posted at CFC Shr00mz ;) :). opus95 Aug 18, 2006, 06:37 PM I would love being able to rename your civilization during the game. So, for example, if you were playing as Russia, and you became a communism, you could rename yourself the USSR. Not that big, but it would be great! Yes! Going further, similar to my idea of being able to re-name any AI city, we should have the option of re-naming any AI Civ, too. Then, you could play the game as Peter, and also have Catherine and Stalin in the game (custom game) without them all being named "Russia". They could be called, for instance, "Ukraine", "Poland" and "Russia", or anything else you might want to call them. Then Frederick could be "Germany" and Bismarck could be in the same game as "Prussia". Or vice-versa ... you get the idea. It's very flexible ...you could use any civ, with any combination of characteristics, and then call the civ "Canada", or "Paraguay", or "Tunisia", or "Oz", or "Hail, Hail Fredonia!". puglover Aug 18, 2006, 09:54 PM Well actually you can change your civ's name by clicking on "my details" in the game menu during a single-player game. I'm sure you could change "Russia" to "USSR" for example as soon as you become a communism. Lockesdonkey Aug 19, 2006, 08:50 AM Puglover is exactly right. By going to "My Details" and the "formal name" section (I think), you can change your country's name to whatever you please. As America, I ALWAYS change it to the United States of America, UNLESS I adopt State Property, in which I call it the United Socialist States of America. Other names I have used: England, Representation or Univ. Suffrage: Commonwealth of England France, Rep/Un.Suff.: French Republic Mali, ditto: Mali Free State Aztecs, ditto: United Aztec States (in reference to the official name of Mexico) China, Police State: State of China Japan, Hereditary Rule: 日本国, which reads: Nihon-koku: State of Japan Arabia, Rep or Un.Suff/Theocracy: Islamic Republic of Arabia Prowlerfx Sep 09, 2006, 08:02 PM Renaming empires would be a great idea and would be a lot of fun. Renaming stacked units would be awesome. Mrdie Sep 14, 2006, 03:41 AM Silly people, this thread was made in 2004. |
