Anybody know about the Soviet Pacific Navy during WWII????
In particular December 1941???????????
Below is all the info I could find, but doesn't say which, belonged to which fleet??????????????????
-------------------------------------------
At the start of WWII
The Soviet Navy consisted of 4 battleships, 10 cruisers, 59 destroyers and 218 submarines.
The navy was divided in fleets in Baltic Sea, Arctic Sea, Black Sea and the Pacific Ocean.
The Soviets mostly fought in the Baltic Sea and in the Arctic Sea.
Ships of the Soviet Navy
Submarines (279)
Destroyers (77)
Battleships (4)

Most soviet forces were in the Baltic, Arctic or Black sea. And because of the German advance most ships were either damaged and enclosed or sunk in December 1941. The pacific Fleet played in the whole war nearly no role. The Soviets weren´t at war with Japan until the last days of the war.

It didn't do much. The Soviets fought the Japanese in Manchuria in the closing days of the war. Even had the Soviets decided to use it the US Navy had destroyed the Japanese fleet anyway

The Soviets didn't really have a decent fighting until after WWII and even then it wasn't great compared to the NATO navies, especially the USA. The Soviet navy did play an important role by escorting Britain/America-Russia convoys in the Arctic Ocean and North Sea. The Baltic Fleet and Black Sea Fleet I don't know as much about, but the Pacific Fleet was virtually non-existent during WWII, because up until the last few weeks of the war the Soviets were not at war with Japan and didn't need a Pacific Fleet. Of course, during the Cold War, that changed.

Tha Soviet baltic fleet was damaged or destroyed in Kronstadt, the Russian war harbour during ww2. German planes and artillery damaged and sunk nearly every surface ship they had available. So until the very end Germany had the sea sovereignity in the baltic. Only a few subs made trouble, especially by sinking German refugee ships like the Goya or the Gustloff. But surface ships were nearly non existant.
In the Black Sea the situation for the Soviets were a bit better but not very much. Most ships sunk or damaged as well, but since there were harbours out of German range a few warships could still be kept operational.
In the arctic the Soviets gave some escorts to the convoys. But that was it. There were nearly no fleet engagements between bigger forces of Germany and the Russians. The Panzerschiff Admiral Scheer once drove in the North East passage and did some damge there with small fightings against Soviet warships. But that was the biggest Soviet/ German fight in the Arctic i can remember.
