View Full Version : Smiley Request! This one is absolutely wanted!
Stapel Apr 28, 2004, 05:31 AM Could we have this image as a smiley?
http://www.civfanatics.net/uploads7/%232tankvsspearman.gif
It is absolutely fabulous, I think!
carlosMM Apr 28, 2004, 05:32 AM wow, yes - we need that one! :D
Please?
Aggie Apr 28, 2004, 05:40 AM
MarineCorps Apr 28, 2004, 05:53 AM  Yes that would be usefull
carlosMM Apr 28, 2004, 06:39 AM how about we call it
[tankbash] ?
ybbor Apr 28, 2004, 06:53 AM YES! YES! here here, now that would make fine addition all hail :tankbash:
Aphex_Twin Apr 28, 2004, 07:03 AM I subscribe to the request. Perhaps make it smaller, to look more smily-like
Stapel Apr 28, 2004, 07:30 AM I must add that I am not the creator of this GIF. It has been on my hard disk since january 16th 2004. I can't remember where I found it.
Nevertheless, it would be a great smiley!
Ankka Apr 28, 2004, 08:09 AM It can be found at least on CDG... I support this also for a smilie. :)
Dell19 Apr 28, 2004, 08:32 AM Looking at the last post, how about forcing all civ sites to vary their names alittle. Perhaps drop the over used letters such as C and D...
Goober Apr 28, 2004, 08:35 AM How about NO!!!
Of course, we all know that I am anti-smily, but please, not this one!!! Where would you use it anyway, besides in the Civ parts of the site?

Do you even go to the civ part of this site anymore?

So only in a vast majority of the site's fora, then? ;)
Dell19 Apr 28, 2004, 09:19 AM It is too large though...

No, since I have no time to play Civ. I can kinda see why people would want it, maybe we could make it only available in the Civ portions, I do not really see how it could be properly used outside of the Civ sections.
Once Summer comes, I will be able to have time to play Civ, and shall revisit the Civ sections.
It is a bit big, it does need to be cut down.
Alexnm Apr 28, 2004, 11:12 AM i've seen it used as an avatar in another forum...
it is funny. :)
Plexus Apr 28, 2004, 02:06 PM While I like the smiley, I don't like the thought of people putting it in their sigs.
Gogf Apr 28, 2004, 03:26 PM I agree with Plexus.
Goober Apr 28, 2004, 04:46 PM Oh dear, I never thought about that. Ya, seeing that in Sigs would not be good.
No, I agree that the intent is funny, but it is too big to be a simly, and does not serve an adequate purpose. Smilies are orignally intended to display an emotion, which that does not . . .
Hygro Apr 28, 2004, 04:55 PM it should not be tankbash
It should be :RNG:
it should not be allowed in sigs
Padma Apr 28, 2004, 05:10 PM IIRC, it was Crazy Eddie who created that one a while back. :)
#1 Person Apr 28, 2004, 05:31 PM If you want to use it then use the image off of the server.

Put and
around it

It takes more time than a smiley i suppose. But if you want to use it, it is there.
Hygro Apr 28, 2004, 05:36 PM I think I once stumbled across it on uploads 2 or so.
Crazy Eddie May 10, 2004, 02:01 PM I think there are copies in at least four of the uploads folders now. :crazyeye:
edit: Here be the new versons, these are about as small as I can get them -

SuperBeaverInc. May 10, 2004, 06:52 PM That would be a great new smily
LLXerxes May 17, 2004, 06:25 AM Nice smiley! Whats the code, :tankvsspear: ?
Ankka May 17, 2004, 06:32 AM There isn't one, as it isn't a smilie yet. Use [img] tags.
MarineCorps May 17, 2004, 07:01 AM It should be a smilie through :D
Ankka May 17, 2004, 07:17 AM I agree on that.
Dell19 May 17, 2004, 08:33 AM I don't since its still too large and has a limited purpose, i.e posting it in site feedback threads about which smilies should be added...
MarineCorps May 17, 2004, 08:39 AM has a limited purpose, i.e posting it in site feedback threads about which smilies should be added...
You make it seem like that is a bad thing :p
Ankka May 17, 2004, 12:12 PM But the :tank: smiley is just as big. :p
funxus May 17, 2004, 12:39 PM It could have a metaphorical value. When a poster just with a few words (a spear) breaks down someone else's long post of arguments (heavy artillery). I know people have done that to me...
Dell19 May 17, 2004, 12:52 PM But the :tank: smiley is just as big. :p
Well lets remove it then :p
Matrix May 17, 2004, 03:52 PM It should be :RNG:
it should not be allowed in sigs
:goodjob:
The fact that this won't be useful in non-Civ sections of the forum is invalid IMO. This is, after all, a Civ-fansite.
Dell19 May 17, 2004, 06:04 PM It does have some use but there is an infinate amount of smilies that could be added, the problem is deciding which should be added as realistically only a finite number can be on the site. That smilie is still too big to qualify :p
WillJ May 17, 2004, 08:18 PM Where would you use it anyway, besides in the Civ parts of the site?Well, it pertains perfectly to the current situation in Iraq. ;)
Chieftess May 17, 2004, 09:30 PM Looking at the last post, how about forcing all civ sites to vary their names alittle. Perhaps drop the over used letters such as C and D...
CFC
CDG
CDZ
CGN
And that's just the first 4 that come to mind... I love the smilely though.
Dell19 May 18, 2004, 04:43 AM Whats worse is that they all compete in the same multiplayer democracy game... I think we've just been lucky so far that someone hasn't accidentallly declared war on the wrong forum, infact its probably already happened ;)
Ankka May 18, 2004, 07:25 AM Tell me more about this. :p
Dell19 May 18, 2004, 07:35 AM What do you want to know more about?
