View Full Version : Finaly! Rifle armed Partisan...
Smoking mirror Apr 29, 2004, 05:17 PM OK. All the animations are done already, I'll post it on monday when I've got sounds and every thing, won't have time tomorrow. Perhaps someone else can post some sounds to help me out :)
Its a unit to come before the gurilla fighter (armed with a Asault rifle) and is armed with a cheap rifle;
Smoking mirror Apr 29, 2004, 05:20 PM Heres a preview of the Run animation;
Smoking mirror Apr 29, 2004, 05:20 PM And heres a preview of the death animation;
Smoking mirror Apr 29, 2004, 05:24 PM Some of the animations are a bit jumpy, but thats just a side effect of the program I use. People may want to use him for other roles, he's very flexible and is a unit that I've wanted since CIV III first came out, but every time I made a model I wasn't happy with it, one of the reasons being, its actualy difficult to make a good rifle model. :)
Smoking mirror Apr 29, 2004, 05:41 PM Heres the attack animation, I may change this one slightly once the unit is all finished and posted, but for now its OK.
What do you think?
zulu9812 Apr 29, 2004, 05:45 PM That looks great, but it still looks a bit too modern. Is it at all possible that you could do one in obviously civilian clothes, rather then fatigues?
El Justo Apr 29, 2004, 06:02 PM i like it:goodjob:
Smoking mirror Apr 29, 2004, 06:05 PM Civilian clothes make for a very unimpressive unit and are not actualy representative of most partisan forces in WWII, which were actualy trained soldiers with special equipment and training to work behind enemy lines.
A resistance fighter would be a better name for a civilian dressed partisan, and I would suggest using Embryodeads trenchcoat wearing Private eye unit, as its light armament would be representative of the actual military value of a freedom fighter, whose activities would be limited to spying, and pillaging ememy improvements.
MarineCorps Apr 29, 2004, 06:05 PM very cool. :cool:
Amenhotep7 Apr 29, 2004, 06:14 PM I think the run looks a bit stiff, but it looks really good all in all!:goodjob:
NateDawgNY Apr 29, 2004, 08:48 PM Sweet! Can't wait for it!
civilleader Apr 29, 2004, 09:14 PM nice unit. It's in my civ game.
unscratchedfoot Apr 29, 2004, 09:37 PM Smokey, excellent as per usual. This will be quite useful and the graphics look great. Soldiers are so hard to animate. Please post this soon cause partisan soldiers are badly needed for civ3.
Goldflash Apr 30, 2004, 11:36 AM Hey, alright! When thsi is done, it wil lreplace the 'commando' unit I am using for 'Free French' In my mod. Sweet!
the mormegil Apr 30, 2004, 11:56 AM Thanks Smoking mirror! I've been looking for a pre-Guerilla unit.
Steph Apr 30, 2004, 12:12 PM I'm almost willing to start again working on my mod to at last put a partisan with proper graphics...
thestonesfan Apr 30, 2004, 03:55 PM This unit is needed so much it hurts! Thanks, SM!
The run animation is a little stiff, I agree...mainly due to his left arm. Perhaps you could put a knife in his hand. That might make his arm look more natural.
But other than that, it's top notch!
Xen Apr 30, 2004, 04:35 PM bwa ha ha ha ha! El Presidente will be pleased :D
cemo1956 May 01, 2004, 04:57 AM Great unit,
but I must ask if someone has made a soldier representing American Marine around the time of Spanish American War. That's at the turn of last century I think.
Both the Marines and US soldiers had some nice looking hats I think. Wide, round and a cowboy looking top. Do anyone know what I'm talking about.
So a movie with Sean Connery the other day. Wind and the Lion.
The Marines came to rescue in Morocco about this time 1904. These units swarmed all over the world 100 years ago and they had a little different headdresses than the later WW1 units.
Could I find anything similar or is someone thinking on it.
Smoking Mirror how about you
Clamel
Gogf May 01, 2004, 07:25 AM Great!
Xen May 01, 2004, 11:52 AM by anychance coudl you add a big Cuban Cigar in his mouth to make a Fidel Casro King unit?
unscratchedfoot May 02, 2004, 06:31 PM Smokey, please don't forget to post this unit. We want so bad. And no cigar is better. It's fine like it is now. :)
Goldflash May 02, 2004, 08:50 PM Hmmmm... Yes.. this would make a nice Castro King Unit if you remove the rifle and add a Cigar.
thestonesfan May 03, 2004, 06:55 AM Well, do the partisan before Fidel.
unscratchedfoot May 03, 2004, 11:50 PM Hey Smokey!! Monday is passed and the goods havent' been delivered yet :( I already got a place set up in my mod for this feller. Please!! Even without sounds is fine cause I usually change them anyways.
:cry: Where is guerilla fighter?
Bob McDob May 04, 2004, 04:57 AM :hums the Internationale:
Smoking mirror May 05, 2004, 10:58 AM Don't worry, just got back from my girlfiends, and am starting on it now, long weekend and all...
Ukas May 05, 2004, 02:05 PM Don't let them rule, man! How many girlfriends you have anyway?
Smoking mirror May 05, 2004, 03:32 PM Only the one girlfriend, we've been dating for a year now, a record for me. :)
This is a unit I've wanted to have for a long time, so I'm trying to make it as best I can, I still think the reload animation needs redoing, but The rest of the animations are fine as far as I'm concerned. Its just not possible to get better from my program without risking an error.
heres somthing else I've been working on for a while, its actualy a reorking of one of my earliest units, the advanced german U-boat, or type 21 E-boat.
This time I've actualy found some original desings to base it on.
zulu9812 May 05, 2004, 05:36 PM That's a really nice run animation
but finish the partisan first! :p
Xen May 05, 2004, 05:45 PM just a question, btu do you plan on ever restarting your future mod/sceanrio thing?
Smoking mirror May 05, 2004, 05:56 PM Yep, but its just one of several projects.
partisan is done for now, you can find him here; partisan (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=87334)
Wyrmshadow May 05, 2004, 06:16 PM well I'll be....
I'm doing a type21 as well.

Smoking mirror May 06, 2004, 05:58 AM Thats prety cool wrymshadow, its definately in the same style as your other sea units so it should go well in the SOE scenario. I love it when a mod has a coherent look.
Ive tried to make mine as much like a civ 3 submarine as possible, the animations are going to be very similar, and Ive made it the same size as the original sub, and the nuke sub, though it looks a bit chunkier.
recon1591 May 06, 2004, 06:18 AM SM,
Truely u'res looks more liek a type XXIII sub that Germany had drawn up but never got to produce.. Damn where's that link Wyrm. showed me.
recon1591 May 06, 2004, 06:23 AM I'm sorry they made 61 of them berore wars end.
