Vacancies:

As you can see, Vacant is going to be busy this term – we have 5 elected offices to fill, and of course I need a Vice President.

So if you’re interested in being a Governor, on the Judiciary, or Vice President, please let me know!

PS: Yes I’m begging!

CivGeneral has already requested to be Governor of Allures Province, so unless anyone objects I shall appoint him Governor.

Provisional Turn Chat Schedule is up here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86811), I'll make it official tomorrow. Comments are welcome, and please let me know if I've got the time zone conversion wrong! I know that I have been at chats until the early hours of the morning my time, but I have scheduled these earlier as I didn't think a DP who was barely awake would be a good idea!

Thank you gert-janl, welcome to the Judiciary!

Please note everyone: I have updated the turnchat schedule to avoid the probable forum outage this weekend - the next turnchat is now on Wednesday. This is later than I would have liked, but I am unable to do Tuesday, and I don't want to get off to the wrong start with officials unable to post instructions

What are our national aims? We in the great province of Norwich desire to know this so that we may put the full weight of our province's production towards helping local officials such as myself in getting rich, er, I mean, so that we can help make our country great.

Thank you,
Governor donsig

PS: Any rumors or reports you hear of gross corruption and waste in Norwich is definately hearsay. That's my story and I'm sticking to it. :D

Governor donsig

That's a very good point that you make, as although we appear to be moving towards a Conquest Victory, with a lot of vocal support in the forums, this matter has not been formally polled to allow our less vocal citizens to have their say. I have now corrected this situation with a poll Do we go for a Conquest Victory? (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86980) which will be open for 48 hours. This will enable us to settle our long term goals so we can focus on discussing how we get there. This poll will close more than 24 hours before the next turnchat hopefully giving sufficient time for instructions.

I'm sure that the rumours of corruption and waste in Norwich province are greatly exaggerated, and that the situation will improve with a few courthouses and the slow assimilation of the former citizens of India into our culture. In the meantime I hope that we can keep the luxuries flowing so your citizens can live in an almost perpetual state of celebration!

I was looking at the save, and with some micromanagement of the corrupt cities, we could probably scrape out an extra 50gpt. Once those cities are fully irragated, they will have enough surplus food for even more taxmen. If we get hospitals, those cities (we'd have to rush them though...) can be size 42 taxmen factories. (imagine up to 20gpt PER CITY!!!).

How much would we have to spend rushing hospitals to make that much?

Probably a lot, so it should be a low priority item, but should be done in cities with the most growth potential.

Thank you von_Clausewitz. Province 10 is shown here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?postid=1707386#post1707386). You can't be both, being the Governor of Province 10 would be most useful. Once you start your province thread I will link to it.

That's not a summary, but it is excellent none the less! Bravo! You've earned my vote for next term. I sure hope you can keep up the good work. :goodjob:

Two questions:

1) I was a bit surprised to see our two leaders form armies right away. I don't recall any discussion about how to use leaders - though I admit I haven't been paying 100% attention. Has there been discussion on that or was the decision to form armies a purely DP decision?

2) What can we do to reduce the amount of time you have to spend on the pre-turn? I hope to see your excellent summaries continue and don't want pre-turn stuff draining your energy at their expense. As a governor I'd like to post my instructions that make it as easy on you as possible.

Thank you for your comments donsig

In answer to your questions:
1) there was some citizen discussion pre-emptively here (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=86932) about what to do with a great leader. At the time the first one appeared there was no Wonder we could rush, so looking at that discussion I made the decision to build an army rather than have the leader sit around doing nothing and prevent us from getting another. As there was no wonder to rush there seemed little point in stopping the chat to discuss it. Similarly for the second.

2) Hopefully I will improve. I have been intending to respond to each of the officials who posted, unfortunately sleep has got the better of me, and I haven't yet had the time, but I did find it easier when the queues and MM instructions were listed together for each city rather as two lists - I found that I was going back to cities twice, first for the queue then for the MM rather than doing both together.

I certainly intend to keep posting summaries, I hope they allow more people to follow the game.

Thank you

Sorry to all about being absent this first week of term, but I haven't had time to do much online AND I can't find my Civ CD. Also, I will unfortunately be absent the remaining three weekends this month. So, I offer my resignation and invite President Furiey to appoint a replacement if he wishes to. If he does not, I will still try to provide TC instructions if I find my Civ CD.What is the situation in Serlinore? We don't have a thread, we don't hace tc instructions, and maybe we don't have a governor?

No, Unfortunately Noldodan has been forced to resign as Governor, and I have as yet not appointed another. In the meantime, suggestions for build queues etc will be gratefully received. That's what I wanted to hear. (The 2nd sentence!) ;)

May I humbly suggest as follows:
Groton: switch to army, always army
Mûre: factory, market, tank
Grand Bricolage: switch to market, granary, factory
Oldenburg: courthouse, market, aqueduct (mm for production)
Exile: aqueduct, market, ironclad (to kill the barb galleys)
Rubanovka: factory, granary, library, market, university
Sambhava: aqueduct, factory, university

Worker instructions: Up to the DP’s preference.

My Dear President,

I have noticed a few irregularities in Norwich. Work on the harbor in Sandy has progressed far beyond expectations. Also, there is now a harbor in Berlingueria and a temple in Amphi. Furthermore, workers are queued up in these cities. I do not recall placing instructions for this. Could your office explain this?

Also, I request that the game play session scheduled for Wednesday be postponed until this matter is thouroughly looked into.

Furiey
May 18, 2004, 05:33 PM
Governor donsig

Work on the Harbours and Temple has progressed at a faster rate than expected, simply because some of the forest has been felled and on the tundra replaced with mines as part of the ongoing improvements throughout our land. Your posted queue for Amphi included a worker after the temple was completed, the workers Berlingueria and Sandy were queued as your queues had expired, and you appeared to be building workers in your province. As these workers were not complete by the end of the session, if this is not what you wish to build in these cities, you may change them to what you do want without loss of production. I hope that this answer is to your satisfaction, I certainly had no intention of overriding your queues. Do you still feel you wish to postpone the session today to investigate this further?

I have been irrigating around Norwich as you wished (obviously I can't on tundra), but if there are specific ways you wish Norwich to be improved I will try to do so within the instructions given by Finance and Labour.

May 19, 2004, 12:46 PM
My Dear President,

Thank you for the response. Your replay does indeed make sense and I formally withdraw my request to postpone game play. I do have two requests:

1) If there is to be more forest cutting or similar events that will speed up production in Norwich please let me know so that I can submit build queues of the proper length.

2) Please give me some direction as to whether or not more workers are needed. Remember, we in Norwich want to contribute to the greatness of our nation any way we can. If workers are needed we will recruit them. If settlers are needed we will recuit them. If soldiers are needed we will draft them, etc.

Thank you,
donsig

Thank you governor donsig.

There is still forested tundra in Norwich and we are running out of things for the workers to do. I sure that if you set your build queue and request that the forest is felled to hurry a particular item then we will be able to oblige.

Report from the Department of Defense:

-- Sent from the first Air Division in New Swazi --

President Furiey! Aztec troops have been seen massing their forces for an
attack to try and take our chokepoint! Their are reports that they have
landed by Needles, and another galleon is on the way to the southern island.
The Persians also have 2 galleys and 2 ironclads headed south between the
western island and the mainland. The world's political climate is disinigrating
fast! The world is about to go to war!! I urge the nation to build more
airports, infantry, and tanks, while shipping and airlifting bombers and
artillery. We *MUST* get to Modern Armor! Our tank output must double, if
not quadruple!

Thank you for asking this question governor donsig

Your production of workers has enabled us to rapidly develop our lands, so much so that there is now very little for our workers to do! Rather than contribute to a growing unemployment problem, I think it would be preferable if you didn't continue producing workers. I will be asking the Minister of Finance and Labour to confirm this view as there are other provinces that are still producing Workers.
