View Full Version : Terrain: C3C Improved resources
Talar May 01, 2004, 11:25 AM It might be that someone has already done this, but I couldn't find the file so I made my own C3C resources.pcx file that shows resource icons and happy faces for luxuries without changing the graphics of the resources themselves.

Michelangelo May 06, 2004, 05:58 AM Hi,
I found something similar created by Chieftess. It's linked in the signature. I use it every game as it makes finding the resources much easier.
EarlOfChester May 06, 2004, 06:13 AM Another who's been looking for precisely this. I don't like Snoopy's whale, nor want any extra resources so good job :goodjob:
wellssh May 25, 2004, 02:18 AM Okay, Im totally new to CivIII and when I got it, I went ahead and got Conquests too, so Im sure this question will seem inane to many of you.
I cant figure out how you are editing/adding resources. Maybe Im still Fhinking CivII editor, but how can I add a picture in the editor? for example I have a scenario and I want Cotton as a resource (now I dont need 153 resources, just cotton). I see the button to "Add" and it asks for a name and I enter cotton. Then I scroll through the icon until it gets to a blank iconk, but I cant edit the pixels.
I looked at tutorials for adding units and that seems very difficult. (Im not computer savy and I dont like the idea of going in and fooling around with the game's files).
All I need to know is 1) how to create one resource picture and 2) how to add that picture to a .biq scenario.

You have to copy your conquests.biq into the scenarios folder and rename it to something like withcotton.biq so you can find it.
Create a folder named withcotton and inside this a subfolder called Art. Copy from your original Art folder the resources.pcx and the resources_shadow.pcx into the new Art subfolder. Open the resources.pcx in the subfolder with a paint programm. Paint yourself a cotton into one of the blank squares and save this resources.pcx.
Now open the editor and open your withcotton.biq. You can edit the resources under natural resources.
Have fun.
BTW: Questions like this should be asked in the creation and customization forum. I only answered it because it seemed a little bit rude to me to just send you away.

Good to know some folks can be nice while they correct others. :)
