View Full Version : City Graphics: FFVII Shinra Corporation
Hikaro Takayama May 13, 2004, 12:16 AM The zip file contains both era specific and single style graphics. Includes both mormal and walled city graphics
The Era specific is being used for my general FF mod for both FFVII civilizations and FFVIII. The Ancient Era graphics are Clam I Am's Cetra city graphics, with my walled city graphics added. The middle and Industrial age city graphics are RON conversions done by Arbitrary Guy, and the Modern age are Mine (well, the small and medium cities are a combination of Arbitrary Guy's graphics and some of my own original Bryce built graphics).
UPDATE: City graphics altered to look better in game, and keep roads from going over top of parts of the city. Old files removed, updated ones in place.

Clam I Am May 13, 2004, 09:30 PM They look quite nice. I can't wait until you finish the mod.
Hikaro Takayama May 13, 2004, 09:47 PM Thanks for the compliments, guys, and also thanks again to Arbitrary Guy and Clam I Am, without whose work I wouldn't have been able to complete the age specific cities. :goodjob:
On a side note, while I was building the graphics for Midgar (Large, modern city graphics), the FF VII opening theme kept running through my head  :crazyeye:
They look quite nice. I can't wait until you finish the mod.
Me, too, that way I'll actually have time to PLAY Civ III :crazyeye:
Unfortunately, I'll soon be shipped to everyone's favorite place in the world :tank:, but I'll still try my best to work on the mod and post updates when I can :ack:
Reno May 14, 2004, 12:04 AM Could you add the Mako cannon to the midgar city graphics?
Since Shinra moved it there at the end of the game it would look better that way....
nice work by the way.

Actually, the Mako cannon is giong to be a Late game unit. It will have 0 movement, 40 tile bombardment radius, defensive bombardment, the Highest defensive value of any unit in the game (so it always appears on top of the city), airlift capabilities (so that it can be flown to anoter city with an airport, like it was flown from Junon to Midgar in FF VII) and require Materia (yes, I DO have a materia resource...) to build. Also, you'll only be able to build One at a time (i.e. you build a Mako cannon in Midgar, and it gets destroyed by an enemy's mako cannon or whatever, you can build another, but not until then). But this if for future projects. As for immediate projects, I'm about 70% finished with the Ancient Era Tech Tree, Units, buildings and Wonders, and added the Yevon civilization from FF X (uses "Mideast" city graphics).

Great thanks! :D
Hikaro Takayama May 20, 2004, 11:19 PM Alright folks,
I've finally figured out how to change ages in the map editor, so I previewed the cities I made, and, frankly it wasn't too pretty. One half the Medieval cities and all of the industrial and modern cities were far too big, and roads/railroads went over top parts of the cities. Plus, let's admit that the modern era walled city graphics could've been done better.
With that said, let me present to you the New and Improved FF VII City Graphics. For the middle-modern ages, I shrank the cities by 10%, realigned them, and in some cases, rebuilt them practically from scratch. I also changed the modern era walled city so that it had walls (courtesey of AoK map editor ;)), as well as generally tweak all of them to improve their looks. I've replace the original zip file attachment on the first post with the updated cities, and added a preview of the ancient and medieval cities, and for your viewing pleasure, the industrial and modern cities are attached to this post.
Morfos Oct 12, 2004, 07:50 PM I don't see a zip where I can download. :(
Can you upload it so I can download it. It sounds interesting to me, also I would appreciate it if you gave a preview of it. Sorry to bump topics but Im interested in downloading this.
Hikaro Takayama Oct 13, 2004, 07:17 AM That's because I moved them to my General purpose graphics library since my signature was getting cluttered up and I needed a better way of keeping track of and updating all the various graphics files I've posted (how the heck did you find this old thread, anyways?) Click the "My Wonder Improvements and City Graphics Library" link in my signature to find the most up to date versions.
Ukas Oct 13, 2004, 03:58 PM Damn, Hiraro, Swee-et! :wow: That is some library there, full of mind blowing stuff!
