Is right.
It comes from the Greeks word. Every year people of athens got together and voted against someone. If somebody got more than 6,000 votes they had to leave athens for a certain period of time (10 years I think) and they called that prossess ostracizing.

It means getting slowly immune to a poison or toxin by taking very small amount of it everyday and increasing the dose over time

Just to add a detail to this. The voting itself was done by scratching the name of your chosen candidate for exile on a sherd of broken pottery (the Greek word for which is "ostrakon"). This is what gives the actual name to the process.
