EDIT: original picture added (if someone can known the Berlin monument). I have decided to not insert also the 2 tanks: too big for a pediaicon, I think.

@Winter: in effect Russia has left a large number of soldiers to capture the evil nazi Berlin on WWII. (But it was a great conquest against the Allies!)

I think these would be cool for improvement and S.Wonder. I have an idea for a rather big Large Wonder though- one that is a bit conflictive...

True Gogf, I saw that on the news yesternight- if Rufus makes this one it could be the american culture region counterpart to the Soviet memorial

@Winter: oh, the beauty of Speer ideas!

@Gofg: I don't know what is it, but I can see the site that you have used. Actually I have made Soviet one becuase I think that the American view is a little predominant on Civ3.

@Rufus T.Firefly
All could be useful. :thumbsup: Thanks.

@W.i.n.t.e.r
Holy... that's huge! While I don't exactly admire Speer's designs (he seems to consciously design to intimidate), having a patron like Hitler is an architect's dream. :D

@Mobilize: I'm making a culture group war memorial: now European and american has made (for Eu you can also use my Trafalgar square, if you want). For mediterranean you can use my Altare delle Patria, for Middle east I'm making Baghdad swords and for Far East I'm thinking about Hiroshima ruins...

I think the memorial of Verdun would be more apropriate for Europe... and the Bagdad Swords are already in the game as some wonder ...

Jun 02, 2004, 09:46 AM
@Winter: where is Baghdad ready made? For Verdun, any images?

Take the art of war images and modify those :)...

Take a look at the first 5 pictures...no#5 is the memorial (seen from the side)

I like the museum one, because cemetery would be equals to american one. Obelisk I think it's a little horrible....

Where I live the monuments all feature soldier statues- I was schocked how impersonal the obeliscs looked for war memorials, when I lived in London...

By the way: Happy day of the Republic to you, Rufus :) (how do you say that in Italian?)

Rufus T. Firefly

Buona festa della Repubblica!

In effect, I haven't take care about the idea of impersonality as war atrocity on obelisk... could be an idea.

We have (IMHO) one of the best war memorials right here in Kansas City. To my knowledge its the only WWI memorial and meuseum dedicated soley to WWI in the United States. It was dedicated in 1921 by Lieutenant General Baron Jacques of Belgium; General Armando Diaz of Italy; Marshal Ferdinand Foch of France; General John J. Pershing of the United States; and Admiral Lord Earl Beatty of Great Britain. The only time these five were ever together.

There is a good pic for a splash on the main page.http://www.libertymemorialmuseum.org

The amazing thing about this memorial is that the 2.5milloin US required to build it was raised by the people of Kansas City in less than two weeks and much of that was through donations of pennies and nickles by school kids. The restoration was the result of the first ever Bi-State tax covering 5 counties in Kansas and Missouri.

Sorry to ramble, but not enought people know about this "Great Wonder" and I am proud to have worked on the restoration.

Could make a good Late Industrial early Modern Wonder.

The last one: far east war memorial.

Actually is the bomb memorial of Hiroshima, not a war one.
