View Full Version : Wonder: Speer's Dome
Rufus T. Firefly May 30, 2004, 03:06 PM The nazi architect Albert Speer designed the new Berlin, which will be when Third Reich won the war. The most important monument was the "Grosse Halle", an enormous building for parties meetings (it can contain 133,000 persons!).
A special thanks to Winter to give the idea!
This is the model of new Berlin (the gate under the great arch is Brandenburg gate, so you can have an idea of proportions):

Wonderful Splash !!!!!!!!!!!!!! now you are getting real scary !!!
the icon could still do with some work tho, the dome looks like it is translucent... perhaps just the dome building would look better ? :goodjob:

It's not translucent, it's only illuminated by spots on each corner...
CelestinChild May 31, 2004, 04:52 PM Hmm, this would make a great Fascist small wonder...but what to use it as?
W.i.n.t.e.r May 31, 2004, 05:47 PM Large Wonder War memorial ?, buildable after Small wonder War memorial has been build (again triggered by a certain quantity of memorial improvements ?)
Ankka Jun 01, 2004, 03:29 AM Nice work as always.
Dann Jun 01, 2004, 07:12 AM Wow!

Goldflash Jun 01, 2004, 08:17 AM Congrats on 2,115 posts, W.I.N.T.E.R!
Hhmm. .I'm getting pretty close to 500 my self...
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 01, 2004, 08:44 AM Hehehe (sorry 4 threadjacking but) thank you, Goldi :D
I just checked and noticed I'm still post an average of 2.5 posts a day (which is incredible since I was away for most of 2002) ;) - there should be an "I'm-on-holiday feature" ...
jimkirk Jun 02, 2004, 11:52 PM where do i extract the files to in the scenario folder?
Camber Jun 03, 2004, 12:41 AM Awesome. Those Nazis really were planning for the future. Good thing they didn't have a chance to make good on their plans.
socralynnek Jun 03, 2004, 03:42 AM I maybe use it as a small wonder for fascist nations, maybe works as a second FP...
or produces an unit every x turn, maybe something like SS, or increasing happiness, everything works.... Good Work, Rufus!
CelestinChild Jun 03, 2004, 04:56 AM Hmm, thinking about it, maybe I could make it a great wonder requiring a fascist small wonder to build, to represent that this was to be part of the culmination of a dominant Nazi Empire?
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 03, 2004, 05:35 AM There is an improvement/small wonder called ss barracks- i'd rahter use that one to produce any ss units.
The Dome was to be finished by 1950 (not even taking into account delays due to the war). By that time the SS would have been around for around 20 years already.
A second FP would be interesting- though I think Celestin's idea would be best: an SM buildable after the enough armies have succeeded/been built (and enough memorials lead to a Speers national symbol for Nazi Megalomania)
BTW: Goldflash: Congrats for 500+ Posts
CelestinChild Jun 03, 2004, 07:16 AM I'm thinking, require 5 armies, a fascist mini-wonder (SS HQ?) and have it grant a happy face in all cities, reduce war weariness in all cities, and some massive culture generation.
W.i.n.t.e.r Jun 03, 2004, 08:37 AM mini-wonder (SS HQ?)
there was another one later...
CelestinChild Jun 03, 2004, 09:04 AM Well, it all depends on the mod, I'm only including one mini-wonder per government currently in my mod, though that may change.
Rufus T. Firefly Jun 03, 2004, 09:05 AM You can take ideas from my DyP gov building pack. Search on building library
CelestinChild Jun 03, 2004, 09:44 AM At least 70% of content I'm using is salvaged from DyP, TeT and BBW, 20% is stuff I've already found, and 10% is stuff I'm probably going to have to make myself. (Like the Stargate wonder I made already.)
Main difficulty of course will be giving credit properly, but I will try to do my best.
W.i.n.t.e.r Jan 04, 2006, 11:01 AM Updated Pedia Pcx (2 large variants and one small one). Actualy wanted to add some trees around the outer wall but Couldn't decide which of them I liked better- so here is the current version- suggestions welcomed.

W.i.n.t.e.r Jan 05, 2006, 08:28 AM Could you guys n gals voice preference for either of those two over the other? That and, should I add something to it or improve the grassland to Snoopy's? Pray do tell?
Samez Jan 05, 2006, 09:50 AM Well if you like to add some trees and stuff like this I would prefer the left one cause it somehow looks bigger.... (hmm even if I don't know why exactly)
In general I would say this building would have been so damnd big that it would be better to use the "bigger" (left) one...
Snorken Jan 05, 2006, 02:09 PM I think you should go for the right one. The left one looks a little weird, I think it has to do with the angle. I don't think you have to add anything, it looks good as it is.

hm, actualy the angle is the same with both... just that the left one is more centered (and sleeker, of course)
Been playing a bit with the file... any good?
Snorken Jan 05, 2006, 03:17 PM hm, actualy the angle is the same with both... just that the left one is more centered (and sleeker, of course)Really? I thought it almost looked like the left one was flying. Off to the optician I go!
The new version looks better, maybe because I don't have the right one next to it to compare with. The trees are nice. I don't like the lake, though.
