View Full Version : Multi-Team Democracy Game: Are you interested?
Octavian X Jun 07, 2004, 11:18 PM This is just an attempt to see if we actually have some interest in a CFC multi-team DG to run parallel with DG5.
If you are interested, post so here, and also state how much you would participate in such game (ex. lurker/intermediate/lots).
DaveShack Jun 07, 2004, 11:35 PM I was going to jump straight to a poll, but guess an open form signup won't hurt. :D
I would participate in a multi-team demogame. My participation level is throttled by work, but if there weren't so many things going on in RL I'd be slightly more active in a competitive situation of some kind than I would be in another generation of let's whack the AIs.
Micaelis Rex Jun 08, 2004, 07:10 AM I'm interested in this! :D
I'll participate "lots", but I really want to try something else besides being President. So basically anything besides that.
Civanator Jun 08, 2004, 03:59 PM Hell yea I'm interested. :D
donsig Jun 08, 2004, 05:41 PM I'd rather do this than another Vanilla Civ 3 demogame. :D
[wonders to self]Would anyone want me on their team?[/wonders to self]
truckingpete Jun 08, 2004, 09:14 PM I'd rather do this than another Vanilla Civ 3 demogame. :D
[wonders to self]Would anyone want me on their team?[/wonders to self]
I would let you be on my team..:D Or I could be on your team...
I don't care if it is this kind of game..make it more interseting
IgrOK[SU] Jun 09, 2004, 01:21 AM Is Multi-Team Game means, that is PBEM Game between some teams? Or how?
Rik Meleet Jun 09, 2004, 04:01 AM Hotseat anyone ??
Bootstoots Jun 09, 2004, 03:04 PM I'll sign up if one is started, but I'll probably concentrate considerably more on the SPDG.
Octavian X Jun 09, 2004, 06:00 PM ']Is Multi-Team Game means, that is PBEM Game between some teams? Or how?
It'll most likely be a PBEM. The game itself will just be a PBEM game played by different teams.
And, Rik, we'll be at your place tomorrow night. :p
Hirachi Dinavo Jun 11, 2004, 06:08 PM I'd join.
I would participate intermediate to lots, depending on how busy I am.
Emp.Napoleon Jun 13, 2004, 08:55 PM I would love to have a PBEM game with teams. I would participate "a lot" since these are really fun.
Black_Hole Jun 13, 2004, 08:56 PM I might play...
Micaelis Rex Jun 14, 2004, 07:44 AM Well that's 10, half of the required 20 we should have in order to start. I think it is about time to start campaigning for this outside this forum, in the PBEM/Strat/GD/etc forums here. Then we can start team formation. :D
Octavian X Jun 15, 2004, 11:42 PM That was my plan. I was going to wander around some forums here, the Civ3Duel Zone, and maybe even Apolyton, to do some recruiting. I'm going to be absent for about a week starting tomorrow, so I'll start my recruting projects next week.
Zarn Jun 19, 2004, 12:44 AM I would join, but how are the teams decided?
Octavian X Jun 19, 2004, 10:13 PM However many may form. If you want to get a team of warmongers going, do it. People are free to create, or join, a team.
Espírito Jun 20, 2004, 02:38 PM I would love to play,
I will be standing in a corner until someone invites me to their team. Im new to Demogams though so maybe I will stay in this corner a long time
You mentioned 20 players, so how many players per tea were you thinking?
My input would be enthusiastic except when I go on holiday in a few weeks time but Im sure nothing would be lost with a temporary withdrawal of my humble imput.
Micaelis Rex Jun 20, 2004, 10:23 PM 20 players would be 4 teams of 5. That's really the bare minimum you need to run a game like this.
gert-janl Jul 13, 2004, 02:04 AM count me in if it ever comes to a game!
BCLG100 Jul 13, 2004, 10:35 AM thats quite a bump.
id join if this gets going.
Ankka Jul 13, 2004, 12:15 PM So would I.
Epimethius Jul 13, 2004, 04:56 PM I will participate in any demogracy or succession game, so long as it is vanilla and starts immediately. :p
BCLG100 Jul 13, 2004, 05:07 PM I will participate in any demogracy or succession game, so long as it is vanilla and starts immediately. :p
you mean completly unlike anything else we have got going in this forum :mischief:
Octavian X Jul 13, 2004, 07:58 PM Epimetheus, the fundamental structure of the game prevents of from using vanilla. It needs to be a PBEM set up, for which vanilla is not eqiuped. You'd still be welcome to participate, as your insights need not necessarily be with the use of the save. :)
And, if we do get a little bit more core DG support, I'll start my effort to go out into other forums for recruitment.
Epimethius Jul 13, 2004, 08:29 PM Dammit, I figured you meant you have a bunch of different Demogames, competing to see who does best or something.
Maybe I should get PTW. It actually makes up for Vanilla's lacking by adding useful civs, unlike Conquests, which seems to add useless redundant ones (excluding the Dutch, though they didn't seem very well handeled.). :p
Ankka Jul 15, 2004, 08:31 AM If you buy C3C, you'll get both PTW and it in the same and won't anymore ever have the problem of incompatibility. :p
Epimethius Jul 15, 2004, 06:49 PM But I'd also get the Sumerians. And I don't want the Sumerians. If I did, I'd rename the Babylonians that. :p
Well, I think I better understand whats going on, and I would be interested. I'm just angry that I can't actually play too active a role.

no it also installs ptw by itself which can be ran off the conquests cd :crazyeye:
bigmeat Jul 19, 2004, 11:50 PM count me in too, that would be great, and we warmongers could finally show the peace people who is boss
BCLG100 Jul 20, 2004, 08:09 AM So octavian have we got enough players to kick start this thing now?
Ankka Jul 20, 2004, 08:33 AM What are we waiting for, let's go! :band:
More people will join once it starts.
And Oct will get one more DG to participate in. ;)
blackheart Jul 23, 2004, 10:42 PM I'd like to join this if it ever gets started.
Octavian X Jul 24, 2004, 01:15 AM Well, then, we'll attempt to get a few more non-DGers in here... :)
Would a mod care to post a news item on the front page to redirect some people to this thread?
Ankka Jul 24, 2004, 11:02 AM More non-DG-ers? Why so?
DaveShack Jul 24, 2004, 01:47 PM More non-DG-ers? Why so?
Ideally to get a forum (or multiple forums) approved (and we would be better off with our own sub forums) we need to show that it will draw in more participation. Also we need enough total participation in the multi-team game to have several democracies, one for each team.
Octavian X Jul 25, 2004, 01:59 AM Another thought - where should we look for potential players?
The list I have in my head stands right now at...
~The CFC PBEM forum
~The CFC SG forum (CT has given a go-ahead for posted adverts here, iirc)
~The Civ3Duel Zone Forum (A large group of people involved in PBEMs)
~Gamecatcher Forum (has a strong tradition in regard to team-type games)
Anyone with any more ideas? I'd also like some volunteers to keep watch over the recruiting efforts in these areas.
Ankka Jul 25, 2004, 02:11 AM ~The CFC PBEM forum
Of course here.
~The CFC SG forum (CT has given a go-ahead for posted adverts here, iirc)
Wouldn't a global civ 3 announcement do better, in all civ 3 forums at once? propably easier and would be more effective...
~The Civ3Duel Zone Forum (A large group of people involved in PBEMs)
~Gamecatcher Forum (has a strong tradition in regard to team-type games)
Many of the people in these forums are also posting at CFC...

How about a CFC mainpage announcement and one big one which would show in every forum?
Octavian X Jul 25, 2004, 02:18 AM If we could get a global annoucment, that would be wonderful. However, that looks doubtful, at best. Try to ask CT about it next time you see her in #civfanatics. It seems like we're more likely to get a main page blurb that a global annoucement on the forums.
I also listed the other two forums so we can get the attention of those who don't post regularly at CFC. The bigger the pool we target, the better.
KCCrusader Jul 25, 2004, 02:43 AM it sounds like a good idea. I would probably be able to play a lot at least into september.

Was that targeted to me? I can do it.
Octavian X Jul 25, 2004, 11:40 PM Any help I can get is good. I haven't got an infinite amount of time to do this stuff. :p
Ankka Jul 26, 2004, 04:06 AM I asked CT yesterday, she said she'd have to ask TF... I'm not sure if she got the point, but I'll continue askng her. :)
BCLG100 Jul 26, 2004, 09:12 AM
@oct  you mean your one of them weird people that dont live here ;)
Chieftess Jul 26, 2004, 05:00 PM I asked CT yesterday, she said she'd have to ask TF... I'm not sure if she got the point, but I'll continue askng her. :)
I already asked him once, and he wasn't about to make new forums right away.
Ankka Jul 27, 2004, 04:55 AM How are we supposed to start it if we don't have forums? :hmm:
Provolution Jul 27, 2004, 06:18 AM I would join this game, on the condition it is free assembly and organization rights within each civ, a maximum and a minimum number of players, as well as the opportunity to write any constitution, also non-democratic, in line with real government changes throughout the game. Furthermore, there must be some clear rules on how to run this.
Ankka Jul 27, 2004, 09:48 AM We could use the ones from the Second Inter-site demogame. :)
Here's a link:
http://www.cdgroup.org/forums/site/mpm/viewtopic.php?t=49
Of course, those are for Conquests, they'd have to be changed a little if used with PTW.
Octavian X Jul 28, 2004, 02:58 AM Drop by this new thread all on forming some new teams. :)

Civman2004 Jul 28, 2004, 03:04 AM Here's a thought
For multi player demogame, there really needs to be secrecy between the teams. What would be done about that? No point discussing about attacking City Y when that city's owners can just drop by, find out and transfer 3,000 Mech Inf by railroad into the city radius.
Ankka Jul 28, 2004, 04:36 AM Show me a game where you have 3,000 mech infs. :wow:
Chieftess Jul 28, 2004, 05:07 AM Here's a thought

To quote a post a few years back in reply to a screenshot with several elite MA armies... "A few nukes would do..."
Ankka Jul 28, 2004, 07:48 AM Yeah, that's the key! :yeah:
Hey, may I make the world and still play in a team? I could add soe nukes to our start... oops, nevermind that. :mischief: ;)

i thought thats why we had decided, we needed secret forums.
Chieftess Jul 28, 2004, 05:48 PM Good news! Thunderfall is considering forums for an inter-site demogame! What I need to know is how many teams there will be. Remember, he's "considering it", so if there's too many teams, he might not create it.
BCLG100 Jul 28, 2004, 06:00 PM err so far theres 3. i wouldnt have thought there would be that many.
Ankka Jul 29, 2004, 01:29 AM I thikn we shuold creat a game with 4 teams, that would be ideal for a tiny map. :)
CT, it isn't an inter-site DG, but a Multi-team DG. :p
But that's cool if TF is thinking about it. :)
My 6,000th post! :dubious:
Chieftess Jul 29, 2004, 05:01 AM Well, it's still inside the site. ;) I guess if you want to be precise, then intrasite demogame...
Provolution Jul 29, 2004, 05:08 AM Chieftess
I understand, that the game will actually be run from this site for multiple teams.
