View Full Version : Choosing a civ - final poll Chieftess Jun 10, 2004, 08:26 PM Origanal poll (http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?t=90367). We've now narrowed the choices down to Japan, Iroquois (at a distant second), and this poll will include Random. Bootstoots Jun 10, 2004, 09:08 PM I'd rather it be random. It seems more fun that way, not knowing what our civ will be until we start the game. Epimethius Jun 11, 2004, 11:30 AM I accidentally voted Iroquois, so if its close keep in mind that Iroquois is actually one less, and Japan one more. :p Sarevok Jun 11, 2004, 12:13 PM 日本! ぼくは 日本が ほしいです! Japan! I want Japan Chieftess Jun 11, 2004, 04:54 PM Boots - We could, but now, we're getting to the point where random could mean 25% of the time, the civ will be one we already played as. Sarevok - You don't always need boku and desu in a sentence. :) *tries to think of that strong Osaka dialect for adjective words like hoshii. It would be perfect for Sarevok's current Japanese writing style... slight ego, but excited. ;)* Hoshii yo (standard expression of excitement) Hoshii nee Hoshii jaa ne There's one more (I think it's the Osaka dialect) where the adjective and ending are abbriviated. It's not coming to me now. I *think* it's "hoshi'n deya nen". Sarevok -- this might be a good link for you. (http://www.geocities.com/Pipeline/Curb/4953/osakaben.html). (Maybe I should give everyone Japanese lessons if we choose the Japanese.) ;) Epimethius Jun 11, 2004, 07:44 PM You can try, but its all little boxes to me. :p 13/25 have voted for Japanese (52%). I say we start trying to come up with a more creative name that "Fanatika" this time around. Perhaps we could Japanify Fanatika. :p Chieftess Jun 11, 2004, 07:52 PM You can try, but its all little boxes to me. :p 13/25 have voted for Japanese (52%). I say we start trying to come up with a more creative name that "Fanatika" this time around. Perhaps we could Japanify Fanatika. :p It already is. ;) (except that "ti" would either get a special ヂィ character (ti), or make it simple, and use 'chi'. Fanachika - ファナチカ Unfortunately, you can't enter Japanese characters into citynames in the game. (You can in Civ2 though) If you want to view Japanese letters, go to the Monash Nihongo FTP archives (do a search for it on google), and look for MS Mincho and MS Gothic. Install those, and you'll see the method to the madness. Epimethius Jun 11, 2004, 09:43 PM I meant making it not only fit the characters (or letters, I can't remember which it is...), but making it sound Japanese. To part from the constant use of the name. Chieftess Jun 11, 2004, 10:15 PM Well, like I said, there's not much you can do with a word that is already a constant/vowel pair already... "fa" "na" "ti" "ka". Already pronouncible in Japanese. DaveShack Jun 12, 2004, 10:38 AM other -- play a mod of some type and choose a non-standard civ Stuck_as_a_Mac Jun 12, 2004, 10:43 AM Just a question: If we do do Japan, am I alowed to do a running gag on anime? Like have all my RPG characters have really small mouths when closed but freakishly huge when open? Sarevok Jun 16, 2004, 02:20 AM Just a question: If we do do Japan, am I alowed to do a running gag on anime? Like have all my RPG characters have really small mouths when closed but freakishly huge when open? No, but I will be going "Samurai-crazy" if we play as Japan Chieftess Jun 16, 2004, 05:06 AM How about ninja crazy? They're assassins after all. ;) Anyway, these polls will be finalized later today. Falcon02 Jun 16, 2004, 10:12 AM Well this'll give us a good individual Battle simulator ~Get's PS2 and starts playing Samurai Warriors~ Chieftess Jun 16, 2004, 05:42 PM This poll is closed! We will play as Japan! Epimethius Jun 16, 2004, 06:21 PM Horray! Though my complete lack of knowledge on anything Japanese makes the victory less exciting. :p |
