The first (probably) official university floorball game was played yesterday and I was there and playing. :)
Floorball is like an indoor version of hockey but quicker, you can use both sides of the stick, the head has a curved edge, it generally has a quicker pace and the ball travels alot quicker. Also the ball is allowed to hit your feet but not to shoot or pass. Usually the team consisits of a goalkeeper, a defensive line and an attacking line with 2 players in the defensive line and 2 forwards and a central player in the forward line. And then there are also line changes where in a brief pause in the game you switch one of the lines or both. Floorball is probably most popular in Sweden with them being the world champions and England are rated 16th or 18th out of about 30 countries.
Out of the three periods I played in goal for the second period since we don't have anyone who wants to constantly be in goal yet and I didn't concede, helped by the fact that they only had one shot that missed the target. For the first and third periods I was playing as the right forward. Had a few shots but my general role was to hold the ball to wait for one of the defensive line to get some space or for the central player to get in the goal area.
Reading scored first but by the end of the first period it was 4-1 to Warwick, 6-1 after the second period and 8-2 at the end after Reading once again scored quickly from the start.
