View Full Version : Gmail invites
stormbind Jun 16, 2004, 03:15 PM Thanks for using Gmail and helping us improve the service. We're ready to expand our test to a few more users, and because you've been a trusted early tester of Gmail, we're looking for your help. Please invite a few more people who you think would like Gmail and could help us make it even better.
Does anyone want an invite to beta test Gmail?
SeleucusNicator Jun 16, 2004, 03:17 PM Ooh! Pick me!
My current email accounts all expire within the next four months, so I'd be in need of something new. Plus, now that Yahoo slowed down their service I want to get back at them by helping Google perfect Gmail.
Plexus Jun 16, 2004, 03:43 PM Plexus does!
CivCube Jun 16, 2004, 03:53 PM A willing guy right here.
MarineCorps Jun 16, 2004, 03:56 PM I would love to help!!!!!! :)

How do they all just randomly expire?
Jeratain Jun 16, 2004, 11:12 PM Why the hell not. If you don't mind that is.

Archer 007 Jun 16, 2004, 11:42 PM Why the hell not. If you don't mind that is.
jeratain@aventuremail.com
I hope thats a fake address, or the spam monsters will get it.
Plexus Jun 17, 2004, 12:42 AM Why the hell not. If you don't mind that is.
jeratain@aventuremail.com
Bah! If you have AdventureMail, then why do you need Gmail? :p
Gogf Jun 17, 2004, 07:33 AM So who did you invite Stormbind?
[Please be me... Please be me...]
Dell19 Jun 17, 2004, 08:20 AM Bah! If you have AdventureMail, then why do you need Gmail? :p

nixon Jun 17, 2004, 10:09 AM Hehe...

MarineCorps Jun 17, 2004, 01:11 PM Well I don't have anything to hide. Most of the email I get on my hotmail account now is from CFC and CDG. Maybe a couple from people I know every once and a while but nothing personal. But other then that nothing other then spam. Of which I get to much of. With hotmail I have already blocked the maxium # of domains.(250)
stormbind Jun 17, 2004, 01:18 PM I'm all out of invites. If I didn't contact you then I'm sorry.
I shall let you know if I receive any more though
Jeratain Jun 17, 2004, 09:58 PM I hope thats a fake address, or the spam monsters will get it.
Not my primary address. It's actually one of my tertiary (not even secondary) accounts :p
I have 2 GB worth of space for spam on that account. Bring it on!!!
oagersnap Jun 18, 2004, 02:08 PM I'm already a test person of gmail, and i like it. Since i joined gmail two months ago, i havn't got any spam at all.
stormbind Jun 18, 2004, 04:34 PM oagersnap, that means you have invites to share aswell ;)
oagersnap Jun 19, 2004, 07:54 AM No, I've already used them.
MarineCorps Jun 23, 2004, 05:13 PM OK I got 5 invites left. If you want one post here or PM me your e mial adress. :D
Gogf Jun 23, 2004, 05:55 PM I think you should do what someone at a different forum I visit did: make a lottery! People pick a number from 1-50, and then you go here (http://www.xs4all.nl/~sgvdh/random.html), and give invites to the first six chosen numbers. Just an idea.
deffi Jun 23, 2004, 06:33 PM could I get an invite, pretty please? :)
MarineCorps Jun 23, 2004, 06:36 PM PM me your e mail adress and I'll send one off.
Dell19 Jun 23, 2004, 07:08 PM I'll take one if you're offering...
Gogf Jun 23, 2004, 07:09 PM PM me your e mail adress and I'll send one off.
;)Ten characters...
Dell19 Jun 23, 2004, 07:39 PM Thankyou :)
hbdragon88 Jun 23, 2004, 07:55 PM Heh, this is amazing. There are tons of topics all over all the boards I frequent asking for Gmail. I just got one now...and Yahoo put it in its bulk mail box! Stupid Yahoo! I am also sore that I cannot log in to Gmail with Opera, because Gmail doesn't support Opera. I have to use Firefox. :(
MarineCorps Jun 23, 2004, 08:03 PM ;)Ten characters...
What exactly does that mean?
@dell: np :)
Dell19 Jun 23, 2004, 08:31 PM I thought it meant he had PMed you...
MarineCorps Jun 23, 2004, 08:40 PM No he already has an account.
Gogf Jun 23, 2004, 08:40 PM What exactly does that mean?
@dell: np :)
It was telling Dell to PM you, not ask here.
Dell19 Jun 23, 2004, 08:50 PM It was telling Dell to PM you, not ask here.
I did both... :p
Gogf Jun 23, 2004, 09:09 PM Heh, this is amazing. :(
That's because Firefox is better :D!
Archer 007 Jun 23, 2004, 09:45 PM Not my primary address. It's actually one of my tertiary (not even secondary) accounts :p
I have 2 GB worth of space for spam on that account. Bring it on!!!
I wasnt planning to spam you. :mischief:
Archer 007 Jun 23, 2004, 09:46 PM That's because Firefox is better :D!
No, its just more common.
hbdragon88 Jun 23, 2004, 11:59 PM That's because Firefox is better :D!
Dude, I am so sick of you and your Firefox fanboys. Always going, "Firefox is better! Get Firefox! Firefox owns!" OTHER. PEOPLE. LIKE. OTHER. THINGS. I am tired of people bombarding me that Firefox is better. I already mentioned I had to use Firefox, so I must already have it. Quite frankly, if I thought it was better, I would have switched by now. Obviously, I haven't. Hmm? Maybe because I like Opera better?
Support for a single mailbox (I now have 2 gigs for Yahoo Mail, beats Google by a long shot, and no ads at all) does not equal to GREATNESS! Or being BETTER. On the contrary, it just shows how Google, although it believes in helping people (with its search and 1GB options, and possible POP forwarding support), will go to the length to use a differnet kind of encryption unsupported by a browser that is used by 3% of the browser population. I guess 3% isn't good enough to support that particular browser? When 95% of the browser world uses Firefox and Internet Explorer. Cheers for Google, much love I had for thy.
Gogf Jun 24, 2004, 07:22 AM What percent of the population uses Firefox?
Gogf Jun 24, 2004, 07:23 AM No, its just more common.
Firefox is more common than something?
Dell19 Jun 24, 2004, 07:29 AM Opera apparently...
Gogf Jun 24, 2004, 07:30 AM Opera apparently...
Oh, I thoguht it was just luck that it supported whatever language it's written in, as I presume they wrote it for IE.
Dell19 Jun 24, 2004, 07:37 AM Yeah you are probably right, I was just stating the assumption that other posters seem to have made...
stormbind Jun 24, 2004, 09:03 AM I fail to see where the interest in browsers comes from :(
FireFox is nothing special. It's just the latest incarnation of the old Navigator/Mozilla familly without all the extras so it's much faster to startup. For example, there's no messenger, mail program, flash plugin, and so forth... you can add them, but then you're right back with bloated Mozilla.
MSIE is nothing special. The application is almost unchanged since IE4, with only a handful of tweaks and new security flaws.
Not a great deal has changed over the years.
hbdragon88 Jun 24, 2004, 11:05 AM This is getting rather pathetic...Gmail only works if I disble Ad Muncher (http://www.admuncher.com/). Which means I'll be seeing those text adverts. Hmm. Must be something they do that causes Ad Muncher to block it...
WildFire Jun 24, 2004, 09:32 PM Thanks Marine!
FireBall Jun 25, 2004, 11:50 AM I have a GMail account, thanks to my brother, mainly... No invites yet though.
As I said on the GMail Server Thread, those with invites may want to check out www.gmialswap.com if you haven't already. The people on that site are really, really strange, especially the offers...
WildFire Jun 25, 2004, 11:53 AM www.gmialswap.com
nice link :p
MarineCorps Jun 25, 2004, 12:07 PM Um, strange does not quite describe those people. :twitch:
Gogf Jun 25, 2004, 12:13 PM Yeah, they are odd.
BTW, what happened to the Arucard avatar I made you?
MarineCorps Jun 25, 2004, 12:30 PM I increased the size. Tis all.
Gogf Jun 25, 2004, 04:11 PM You also made it untransparent ;).
Gogf Jun 26, 2004, 01:20 PM I GOT ONE! I already sent it out though.
MarineCorps Jun 26, 2004, 02:00 PM You also made it untransparent ;).
Side affect of resizeing it.
Gogf Jun 26, 2004, 02:16 PM Here's a transparent one that size:
MarineCorps Jun 26, 2004, 06:22 PM Thanks . :)
