I started playing Persia (looking forward to the Immortals). The AI situated me along a distant peninsula far removed from the other 9 civilizations. The soon found each other and me. However I was stuck in a jungle infested area and had to clear the area. This meant creating workers and it threw a massive wrench in my plans for total domination.

Sigh, I settled for space race or diplomatic victory. However before I knew it because of their close proximity to each other and their jealousy of the Persian scientific minds, they started to throw darting and lustful glances at my bulging treasury and accomplishments.

When I finally decided to not give in to their blackmail demands, they declared WAR!! ALL OF THEM!! against Persia. Apparently the had a convoluted mass of treaties that sucked in one after the other like a black hole.

Yup 9 civs against little old me. By this time I had around 15 cities producing copious amounts of Immortals who readily sacrificed their lives for their country's defence.

Wave after wave of Aztec, American, Japanese, Indian, Babylonian, Zulu, Chinese, English and Iroquis battered the walls of my fair cities.

The peninsula was connected to the other Civs via a rather wide choke point at the south of my lands. The only logical option the Persian Generals could come up with was to close off this rather wide valley (around 20 spaces) leading to the rest of Persia. Since our enemies had not discovered an advanced form of sea travel they were coming by land.

Wave after wave of Immortals were rushed to face them in a glorious battle worthy of many Klingon war songs.

I simply could not believe that they had all ganged up on me. When I tried to contact them to see if they would perhaps reconsider their <cough> folly, they would not even hear my emisseries.

Oh well I thought. I didn't start this war but I may have to finish it. It took around 20 years of blood, sweat and mud but the Persian Immortals backed by a massively supportive population and a seemingly bottomless mine of iron did more than defend their land.

At first they could just meet the allied forces and keep them at bay. However as all my cities cranked into high military gear there was a torrential and hellish rain of swords atop the heads of my enemies.

The third and fourth wave of Immortals not only killed enemy forces encrouching on Persian soil they actually took the battle to them. The pushed and took defensive positions ahead of cities. The next wave would not only replenish the few fallen Immortals in the defensive positions but would push ahead even more.

The Persian Immortals razed around 10 cities of a variety of cvilizations. They also destroyed the roads leading to the Persian empire so that the enemy of mighty Persia would not find it so easy to transport their troops.

Soon, the more shrewd civiliztions such as the Americans saw that this war was futile and suggested a simple peace treaty with no strings attached. The smaller civilizations such as the Chinese and the more peaceful Indians also offered a truce. Hostilities ceased except for the deranged Aztecs and the Japanese.

These two civilizations simply could not see the error of their ways until a few cities of their puny civilization were razed. Finally their savage generals were reined in by their lack of gold and other resources.

Persia had successfully defended itself against 9 civilizations throwing all they had at it. It was a thrilling experience to not only hold my ground but to push the no mans land a bit further, towards the enemy!

Thrilling!!
