Hey all,
I ended up retooling a small and arid map to change certain things about the game, and I got to really thinking about changing the game dynamics. As a result, what I ended up doing was erasing all of the strategic and bonus resources, as well as the luxuries, to come up with a version of what I thought might be interesting. In this map, the resources of Iron and Horses are especially plentiful. There are enough of each of these resources to supply every one of the seven starting locations. What I've done, however, is group the other strategic resources and luxuries into groups so that they weren't evenly separated. It will be likely that one civilization controls more than his or her continental (even global) share of any given resource. As a result, either diplomacy, rapid expansion, or warfare must be plied to acquire certain resources.
I ended up putting some little easter eggs into the game. Nothing major, just a "lost civilization" and the capability of producing the Iron Works in a few different locations. :)

Tell me what you think? Have I spaced the resources well? Is it relatively balanced?
