View Full Version : about spam at units thread

Just a quote.
I was thinking about spam.

Veterans, please don’t report people they are spamming on units threads.

All of us notice when a new member don’t read forum rules: they put on top a lot of old threads.
But if people reply to him it`s worst.
I lost a lot of time when I saw a “serius name” in a old thread. I think that it will be a update or a usefull link, status or change and only find a boring “you are SPAMMING!”.

Moderators must do that, not members.

And sure, I prefer Zulu way.

THey should be reported to moderators. At least that. If you mean stop posting complaints to the spammer, then I agree. 90% of the spammers aren't reading any replies anyway. They just move on, till they get caught by a mod.

Yes, that is what I mean:

Members: "stop posting complaints to the spammer"

Thansk, and excuse my poor english.

Spam replies (by members) do seem a bit confusing and are pretty useless; I doubt that even if the spammer were to read the reply they would quit.

They don't because I have PMed some spammers and told them how to get their post count to 300 without spamming, and they just continue on. I wish the post count limit was removed, it would at least get rid of this problem. They only want a custom avatar and so they spam uselessly. The trick is to go to the off topic forum and blab about whatever is talked about or start a a tread on a topic. Or got to an appropriate forum for discussions, like sports or other games, or strategies. It''s so simple. THat's what I did. Once I realized when I posted in a thread it was bumped that is. Before that I did the same stupid thing. After, I started a NFL thread and blabbed to myself till someone joined in. Got my 300 posts in a month, by doing those things above. And stopped annoying others.

uhm this whole thread is spam, but it isn't fooling anyone into thinking it's something serious. :p

I do think though that my no required post count for avatars or a lower one should be seriously thought about, unless mods don't really care. It would stop or at least limit the spams.

:nospam:

EDIT: Although it belongs in the Off Topic forum, too. Surprised I haven't seen any "WRONG FORUM!" posts yet.

Uh... WRON FOURM!!! Where's zulu when you need him?

Maybe if everyone just put something in their sig in big, bold letters like:

NEWBIES: TO INCREASE POST COUNT, GO TO THE OFF TOPIC FORUM!!!

I know a lot of them wouldn't listen, but some might. Unless, of course, if the mods change that post limit rule.

BTW: If anyone says I'm doing the same thing, I already have 300 posts; this is completely useless spamming ...

Ok, as some of you request:

Should a moderator MOVE this thread to an OFF TOPIC FORUM, please.

But the original idea thread was in order to limit a specific spam (veteran’s replies) on UNITS threads. I still in my opinion. IT IS A SPECIFIC creation & customization problem not an avatar quest thread.

Sorry

I'm not sure wether you're asking, or being sarcastic, but I think it should (just in case they don't think it pertains to the aforesaid forum).

Personally, I think it does belong in the C&C forum, since you are, after all, asking them not to reply to spam in the units section. However, I think posters in this thread are providing some actually valid opinions... Just not quite 'on topic'. So, technically, I think I am threadjacking rather than spamming .

It was not a joke. I just notice now It was a stupid topic.
Thanks everybody.
Forget it.
It’s off topic for me.

Viking Yeti has a point on the specific topic. It does pertain to the guys spamming in the completed graphix forums. So I think this could be a correct forum. OF course that is a matter for a mod to decide. It's not a stupid topic either. These spammers keep reviving subscribed threads of mine and it's really annoying.

And sure, I prefer Zulu away.

I think everyone's in agreement on this point. :)

OK, don’t forget

Vikingyeti , tjedgel
I agree with you 100%. It was the specific topic of my thread.

Members should not reply them to spam in the units thread section.
Only moderators should do that.

Unscratchedfoot:
I didn’t posted that joke
What I mean:
I prefer that old zulu’s way (not ZULU AWAY) (it was spam but a clear way to notice a wrong place).

TO tjedge1: It's definitly not a stupid topic, IMO, but it is most likely a useless topic since the spammers wouldn't stop when people tell them that they are spamming, I doubt that any will stop if they read this thread (and that is if they read this thread, which I'm sure they wouldn't unless they needed more posts  ).

TO Olixas: I do agree that people should only report the spammers if anything, but I do think that the post limit only encourages spammers (as many of you have stated), and should be removed. I really don't see the point to it anyway: anyone that actually wants to be an active part of these forums wouldn't need to spam, since it seems fairly easy to reply to CURRENT threads and still reach 300 (if they are so stubbornly opposed to the Off Topic Forum), and would most likely post frequently enough regardless of custom avatars (i.e. they would be here with or without the custom avatars).

Some of these "spammers" are rather newbies; they stop and apologise if they see a reply saying they're doing the wrong thing. They just want to thank for the units. :)

If you want to help stop the spamming in forums, use the report post button, rather than replying to a thread saying, "you posted this in the wrong forum".
